I just received Zaino 2 pro and Zaino 8 Grand finale!

I cannot wait to use it this week-end. It is suppose to rain in Montreal so I am going to put my car in the garage and maybe put 2 coats on it. Should I spray the grand finale (zaino 8) between the coats or should I wait at the end of the 2 coats to put it? Should I put the zaino 2 in a round mouvement like if it was regular wax? I looked at their site and the instructions didn't say anything about how to apply it (the mouvement to use). Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Zaino goes on in a vertical up/down direction on the vertical surfaces and a lengthwise direction on the horizontal surfaces. Check their site a smidge more closely and they'll give you a whole bunch of other tips. The Z8 is for special occassions, or so it is written, it is not meant for constant usage like the Z6. Although they don't tell you of any particular drawbacks.

OK, found that on their site, I was not looking at the trips and tricks section. Thanks!

To help with even coverage, spread the nickel sized Zaino Show Car Polish out on the applicator pad like butter on bread before wiping on. On top panels, apply Zaino Show Car Polish using front-to-back hand motions. On side panels, use up-and-down hand motions. This helps improve reflectivity. There’s no need to rub hard or long, just apply thin and even coats. Apply the Show Car Polish to the whole car and allow it to haze. Once hazed, you can buff of the light residue immediately or allow it to sit for a few hours or over night. No matter how long your let it sit, it will still be easy to buff off to a beautiful finish.

I'm assuming that you also purchased the ZFX flash cure additive for the Z2, correct? If not then hopefully the Z1, and if not on either then you might have a problem. Print up their tips sheet and follow along the first time or two. You may also want to consider the claybar, unless you're positive that your paint is pristine. Also be sure to use a dish soap (Dawn) to wash your 8 down prior to starting up with the Zaino.

Autopia recommends against using Dawn, even on the first Zaino application. They say use Z-7.

Perhaps they do, but after paying for all the Zaino goodies; I prefer to follow what Sal says to do. Anyway, in looking at other posts; one must consider one use of Dawn vs. the use of Kerosene

My car is 1 month old. I figured that I didn't need the other products in order to prepare the surface.

Your car is a month old to you, or it was produced in May of '05? Wash it with your usual wash, dry and then run your hands over it lightly - you'll likely be amazed at what you feel. Also look at it under different lights, to check for water spots. What color is your "baby"?

My car is red. It is not washed now so I cannot tell. I know that the paint is really shiny with no spots. I have been taking care of it since I have it. I have a coat of Meguiar's deep crystal system on it that I put the first week I received the car. Is there any other product that I can use before to prepare the paint that I can buy at a store like Canadian Tire for example. If not, I will see when I wash it tomorrow and decide if I go ahead without the Z1 or Clay.

Any advise?

Haven't the foggiest on alternative products. I just know that according to Zaino's site you must you either the Z1 or the ZFX to get Z2 pro or Z5 to function properly. You might want to go ahead, give her a good wash tomorrow - check on how "clean" it is; and then head to the Zaino site for additional info. Good luck

Yes, that's why Zaino recommends you use Dawn before your first application. Dawn will strip the wax from your paint so the Zaino can be applied to a fresh surface.

Where did you get this information? Are you talking about Dawn Dishwashing Liquid? Do I have to mix it with water? How do I apply it?

OK, I found it on their site. Thanks!:

"I would definitely recommend you remove the wax buildup on your paint. Just use Liquid Dawn (hand dishwashing liquid) as a car wash. It has a high alkaline content which cuts right thru carnauba wax, paraffin, silicone oils, etc. This will get your paint finish squeeky clean and wax free.

I don't advise making a habit of washing your car with Dawn. But for this scenario it's fine. High alkaline products like Dawn are tough on polishes. It will never harm the paint finish though. A car wash is made specifically to clean without removing durable polishes. ALSO, Make sure you remove any water spots, before you apply my products. Because Zaino has no abrasives or harsh solvents it will not remove water spots or stains. Z-18 ClayBar is great for removing any paint surface contaminants. Re-wash the entire vehicle with Z-7 Car Wash immediately after the ClayBar
Cleaning Process."

Hmmm, it sounds like you're missing a couple of products you need to get started: ZFX and Z-6. ZFX needs to be mixed with the polish for it to cure. Z-6 should be applied in between coats and after your final coat. Z-8 is the last thing, after you've gotten the car polished to your satisfaction and after Z-6. Given how expensive it is, I don't think you want to use it as a substitute for Z-6. It sounds like a pain, I know, but if you use the products correctly, they last a long time and they produce excellent long-lasting results.

I recommend going thru the all the steps. It is worth doing it right as the quality and durability of this product is out standing.

The Clay bar is a must, even if it is fairly new. I did mine the first week and it had a lot of dirt removed and is what really makes it a mirror like shine.

This is the thread I started to show mine after the first 6+ coats.

It is worth it

humagin....I totally agree with Sea Ray...definitely claybar your 8 before the first polish treatment. It's amazing how smoother the clay will prepare the paint surface and therefore adds considerably to the shine potential. A Z7 wash after the clay will totally prep the surface. Make sure the car is bone dry, then use use the ZFX and mix the necessary drops with Z2 Pro according to instructions for the polish treatment. Be prepared for three light Z2/ZFX coats with Z6 used in between each coat. I haven't tried the Z8 for the final coat yet, but I'm off to the distributor soon for a go! It seems like it takes forever, but not really "hard" work, just time consuming, yet the results will astound you

Humagin, take a step back and read the multiple Zaino threads followed by a close perusal of the Zaino site. Then proceed to order all the goodies you need to do it right. It is well worth the effort :D

Thumbs up

Thank you guys for your replies.

I washed my car yesterday with Dawn - quik, quik...very clean. I ran my hand over the paint lightly and didn't feel anything, it was smooth! Also I looked under different lights to check for water spots, no problem there. I couldn't wait so I decided to go without ZFX and Z-6. I waited for the car to dry well and than applied a coat of Zaino 2 Pro. It took me 4 hours including the hour it dried. I used a very good quality of 100% white cotton bought at Linen Chest. The result was great!!! 24 hours later, I couldn't wait and apply a second coat. Also, I applied Z2 pro on the windows as well. They came crystal clear! You should try it.

I have just finish my second coat. The result is absolutely stunning!!!!

In 24 hours, I will apply my Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal. I will let you know and I will take some pictures.
