HELP!: How to get rid of the tar stains on my 8

Hello guys,

Have discovered black, hardened tar-like stubbon stains stuck on location in-between car tyre and front door on the driver side. Tried to clay-bar, but alas, cannot be removed. Also tried using my finger nails to scrap it off till my nails chipped, but still unable to get most of it removed.

Pls advice if you know if there is anyway to get it removed?

Tks for sharing.

WD-40. It will soften it up and you will be able to wipe it off. It will take several applications though.

Lightbulb Removing tar the old fashioned way

1) Borrow a cup of diesel fuel from someone.

2) Soak a rag in the fuel, and thoroughly wet down the tar

3) Let sit for a couple minutes

4) Repeat 2-3 several times

5) Then, scrape the tar with a semi-hard object like a toothpick or popsicle stick to remove the majority of it

6) Wipe down the area with the diesel soaked rag, which should remove the remains of the tar. (May require a little elbow-grease, hard rubbing).

7) Wash and wax the area where the diesel fuel was.

Total cost: $0.00

I saw on TV that you can use peanut butter. I personally haven't tried it, but if it's on TV, you should give it a try.

Go to the auto parts store and buy some "Bug and Tar Remover".
Or you can use some charcoal lighter fluid or lighter fluid. Just wax the area when your done.

My daughter who tailgates anyone less than 10mph over the limit was following a tar truck with an open valve. Her 3 not only got free wheel well undercoating but also probably 5 oz. of tar on the sides and wheels. Goo Gone followed by a quick claybar treatment where the smears were light took care of it. Then a good wax job.

Bug and Tar cleaner didn't work for me. WD-40 works better.

Easy is right-on with the charcoal lighter fluid. Takes tar off instantly and isn't as hard on paint as some solvents like xylene. I've had that trick up my sleeve for 32 years!

Lighter Fluid FTW. If you're scared it will do anything to your paint, apply it with a cotton swab.
