First time Clay Baring used a Meguiars Clay Bar...
And it worked great!
Just got a Meguiars box from Autozone. It came with two Clay Bars in a Box some stuff you spray on before you use the Clay bar and some wax that takes off more crap from your car/paint and a terry cloth towl. Cant go wrong for $17
It was in the mid 70F today so I washed and clay bared the car WOW! you can see and feel the difference! Cant wait to wax the baby

I don't think you need to do it THAT often . I clay bar twice a year (and strip/polish) and even though I live in NYC, I think that's perfect since I layer my sealants/wax. You brought the kit, eh?
Meguair's Clay Bars tend to break down a little too fast and start to stick. Try looking for Blue/Clay Magic or Mothers, they pick up a little more contaminants with less passings (which is good since there's less friction). You would also like to pick upa few microfiber towels, costco has a great giant pack of yellow micro fiber towels in the car section. The ones at costco are cheap and they're great beginners towels. Terry towels sometimes mar the paint (try doing a scratch test on a CD) and of course that leads to a bad finish and they don't pick up as much water as MF's. Once you go with micro fiber towels, you won't go back.
Not trying to be a smart *** or anything, just giving my 2 cents!

im really picky when it comes to crap like this, i hate rubbing my hand on my car and it not being as smooth as it is after a claybar and wax, but i start to notice thing even after a week, so i dont mind claybarring at least once a weeks...give it that velvety touch with the sexy look and you got the perfect looking car...

i think claybaring too often might damage your paint...
it's like getting professional carpet cleaners to steam clean your carpets every time you should be just doing a routine vacuum- ie, you're going to wear out the fibers too soon from over doing it.
but, that's just what i've been told.

same goes for compounding polish. its a mild abrasive. and i'd hate for it to get to that point where the tar sap and contaminant are noticeable to the touch to call for a compounding....or clay barring for those that prefer that. i've never clay barred so not familiar with the routine.
but yeah... i take EVERY other procedure to keep the compound and bar away.
i.e. wax after every wash, dust after garage parking, and try not to keep rain water from drying on vehicle if possible.
its just crazy to see people more hardcore at this. and i'm just a lazy fu- when compared to all u's.

ha... yeah i just purchased my first clay bar set and it is amazing! i never thought it would work that great. I finished the car off with the NXT wax and it was just perfect. I spent about 5 hours on my car last Saturday and my car looked awesome. My dad liked how good it looked he offered me to do his truck this weekend for $100. I think i'm going to take him up on that...

Sorry guys, i've never used caly bar, and i know you guys like people to search, but since we are on topic, how does this clay bar works? how many would i need to get my 8 done? what are the steps that give the best results?...i know there's a lot of you that are true experts on this. I just used ice on my car this past week and was very pleased.
