Thanks guys...I try to keep a light touch but maybe I'm still too heavy with the thing. I'll give it another chance because it's had great reviews. I'm in a relatively new underground garage so the dust is brutal.

theres always another way to keep your car clean w/o doing much work and marring the paint. you can wash it with "Quick & Easy Wash" ... all you need is a bucket of water.. a sheep skin wools mitt. and a micro fiber towel for drying. the special thing about QEW is no rinsing before and after washing the car. you cant do this with regular car wash soaps because they dont provide enough lube and its not good for normal car wash soap to sit on the paint for too long. i use QEW when i detail cars that dont require much washing (just regular dirty cars with dust and pollen and some dirt). but id whip out the normal car wash with a hose when its really dirty (mud, heavy layer of dirt.. etc etc).. heres the link to where you can buy QEW.

I live in an apt complex with 4 billion flowering trees, bushes, shrubs...

My new shiny car doesn't last 4 hours in the spring. I get in and my hood looks like a ******' Chia pet; a green carpet of plant ejaculate. (This is one reason why animals are better: we don't go around firing our seed in random directions hoping it makes it into the female of our species. Some of us aim.)

I counter with detailer and micro-fiber towels. (in either case)

Well, it looks like my car is not a dust magnet anymore. It's weird, before, one or two days and the car would be covered in dust.

I called my wife to ask whether she did anything different to my micro towels. She said nothing different, but this time she let them dry out in the sun. We have been using the same detergant twice already - before hand soap.

In any case, I think before, when I was buffing my car it was charging it electristatically and hence the dust - no more.

Anyone know what made the difference? I still do the same thing - wash the car, dry it, use zaino 6 and buff it.

Could it be that the micro towels need to get 'worked in'? Don't know...just hope that next time I wash it it's the same thing.

Evaporation will carry charge away but static build up should still occur from contact. I'm not sure how dramatic the reduction in static charge build up (during the waxing) would be because the mf towel was earlier allowed to air dry.

Also, I suspect that a lot of the 'dust' you were seeing was pollen. Pollen levels from trees and bushes should've dropped weeks ago and grass pollen now as well. So the lack of dust could be due to that too.

I have an incredibly long winded way of saying, "I don't know."

Could be...I keep my car in the garage all the time and even overnight, I saw fair bit of dust build up. Now, the dust build up is nonexistent.

Needless to say, I'll take it as a miracle as I'm much happier now as I can appreciate the finish longer after cleaning and don't feel like my time has gone wasted. Let's just home it continues...

You better check with your dealer.

They were suppose to include a dust buster in the trunk when you bought it.

DO NOT use a car duster!! Automatic swirl marks!!!

Garage it if possible or leave it be until next washing. Zaino Z6 is great for intermediate cleaning but if the car is covered your better off with a complete wash. Garaging is key for me keeping my 8 clean and not having to wash every week unless rain strikes when Im out.

many of my friend who are also Detailers have proven that the CCD is a safe way to dust a car with minor dust and dirt build up with out swirling or marring the paint. you probably didnt use it properly or it wasnt the dusters fault. maybe you didnt wash it correctly? i dont know. all i know is if you use the CCD correctly it works extremely well.

Gee, you live in a dusty town, sounds a lot like Pittsburgh.
I agree with the general opinion about dusters... makes scratches easily.
I wash my car daily when in this type of environment.

Feel your pain! Have nice dark dust displaying winning blue - nice metalic - nature hates a clean car - Before I can get to the house they have 5 miles of lovely green alfalfa fields - which are watered with limestone cave water - the white spots are in the air. On the road, the driest day will have some sort of mud - nice red superfine volcanic pumice dust. Butterflies and bees are in abundance striking the windows and nose like paint ball pellets. Then I must leave the paved and face a mile and half of extreamly fine red adobe dust. It makes interesting streaks that look like scratches but disappear under the finger swipe of the curious (which of course has now left a fine scratch) The dust swirls up behind the spoiler and settles into the space behind the passenger door. Baby gets a bath and a cover - (cheap washable microfiber from Walmart for less than $40 - it sleeps in the red car when the blue 8 is in use) - it keeps off roosting peacocks, curious goats, cats, and reduces the interest of the little wild boars who chew thoughtfully on the bumper of the old Tarus, as if considering the taste of a fine aged car. It cannot keep out the mice - only mothballs can do that! The great oak trees drop an occasional limb or simply fall over in tree-pushing season (one hit the carport roof which the country has periodically condemed as built without a permit and therefore overspanned and underbuilt, but it has stood the test of time, with standing 2 6.3 earthquakes, 4 major storms and a falling oak tree. The mad artist who built the car port and did it 'organically' ;a nice but excentric design complete with flying buttresses; so we petition the country periodically, and keep it). The oaks also have a flowering season - millions of tiny flowers drop green microscopic drifting pollen and honey dew - long sticky strings of honey that the humming birds love - resistant to soap and scrubbing, Oak flowering season is followed by pine pollen season, followed by grass pollen season, followed by falling ash season as Ft Hunter-Leggett and Camp Roberts catch on fire and the wind gently wafts the black soot this way. I had to turn the AC off to avoid filling its filters with BBQ flavored soot. I await with some anxiety the rainy season when the road dissolves into potters clay. No clay stick required to remove pollutants here.

No eating BBQ, no going to the drive in, no KFC, no trash taken to the dump, nada, none, this car is sacroscant - none of Wendys 3 kids will come within 30 feet - they took the red car apart ( mindlessly pulling loose the old roof cover that the mad car jacker had poked holes in, mindlessly pulling loose the rubber around the passenger window, mindlessly disassembling the stero speaker in the door, mindlessly removing the stero ***** and losing the cigarette lighter, mindlessly damaging the rear plastic liner, and with equal mindlessness pounding the plastic above the glove compartment until it cracked- they will not even look inside this car! As they stare with sad huge eyes, I stare to see if their grubby mitts contain rocks, shrapnel, or paint pellets - If the military ever permits children with ADD and ADHD into its ranks, the marines will have a secret weapon here - these grimlins have already been banned from Camp Roberts for trying to dismantle a tank - Some day they may be released upon a poor unsuspecting enemy - and they will kill people, break things, and steal his lug nuts!

Well, just came back from a two week vacation to a car that is still shinny and almost no dust. Huge improvement - could be seasonal, early spring. Will check next year.

Needless to say, no prob now.
