If a good wash doesn't do it, I would grab a clay bar.

Clay bar will get rid of water spots, just about anywhere.

I would go to AutoZone, I've seen some there.

Meguiras (sp?) seems to be a popular one amongst most people here.

I'd be afraid to use a claybar on the b-pillars... but that's just me.

Do you mean laminate instead of tape?

I think he means one of the options for laminate on the B-pillar.
either the Mazdaspeed, RX-8, or Rotary symbol with RX-8 in the center like the wheel center caps.

You are just trying to get water spots off of the bare b-pillar right?

It is painted could always try something like the Meguires NXT Speed Detailer, that stuff is amazing at cleaning up stuff like that. The Mothers Back to Black doesn't work on it because it is painted and not vinyl or plastic.

Was that tape stock, or aftermarket?

I have trouble thinking if all 8's come with black tape on the pillar, cause mine is black and its dark out right now. I seem to remember that that area on my 8 isn't as shiney as the rest of the car, so if there's some kind of tape there, I'd like to it off also. Black car anyway.

Anyone see a downside to that?

Jeff

My downside thoughts are:
1. If the tape actually pulled off some of the paint along with it.

2. If at some point Mazda decided not to do a good job finishing the paint under the tape, since it was only going to be covered by the tape anyway, leaving a dull or spotty finish.

In either case, you probably wish you had left it on.

Zoom, Zoom!

Yes the tape comes stock, it makes the car look like it only has two doors, take the tape off and you can see the true nature of it being a four door. Me I like the two door look and did not take the tape off!

Not the look for me either. I covered the B-pillars with appliques because I thought even the flat black tape gave away the 2/4 door illusion.

I think stock it raises just to match up with the rear window. If you take it off even though you have a black car it will give less look of a two door because the window and b-pillar won't line up as well.

Actually I think it matches with the window edging.

Yes, its Tape.
Just peel it off and replace with Black 3M vinyl for a few bucks.
I bet PoLaK would sell you some for a fair price.
