cleaning b-pillars
how do you get the water spots off the factory b-pillars?
|
If a good wash doesn't do it, I would grab a clay bar.
Clay bar will get rid of water spots, just about anywhere. |
u can claybar the b pillar?
|
Can
|
Where can i get it in stores, will kmart, and other stores of the sort have it? Or Autozone or something.
|
I would go to AutoZone, I've seen some there.
Meguiras (sp?) seems to be a popular one amongst most people here. |
auto zone, pepboys, etc etc. they usually have the mothers claybar kit.
|
not sure if you are talking about the same thing but you know that black part right next to the window that seperates the drive and pass fdoorr that is tape and it comes off and its painted i used a blow dryer and took it off

I think he means one of the options for laminate on the B-pillar. either the Mazdaspeed, RX-8, or Rotary symbol with RX-8 in the center like the wheel center caps. You are just trying to get water spots off of the bare b-pillar right? It is painted could always try something like the Meguires NXT Speed Detailer, that stuff is amazing at cleaning up stuff like that. The Mothers Back to Black doesn't work on it because it is painted and not vinyl or plastic. |

here is a pic of mine i took that black tape off with a hair dryer and some time
|
Was that tape stock, or aftermarket?
I have trouble thinking if all 8's come with black tape on the pillar, cause mine is black and its dark out right now. I seem to remember that that area on my 8 isn't as shiney as the rest of the car, so if there's some kind of tape there, I'd like to it off also. Black car anyway. Anyone see a downside to that? Jeff |
My downside thoughts are:
1. If the tape actually pulled off some of the paint along with it. 2. If at some point Mazda decided not to do a good job finishing the paint under the tape, since it was only going to be covered by the tape anyway, leaving a dull or spotty finish. In either case, you probably wish you had left it on. Zoom, Zoom! |
the tape comes on stock but its painted the color of your car under the tape
|
Yes the tape comes stock, it makes the car look like it only has two doors, take the tape off and you can see the true nature of it being a four door. Me I like the two door look and did not take the tape off!

thanks for the pics. I don't think it's a look I want, but thanks again for the pics.
|
Yes, its Tape.
Just peel it off and replace with Black 3M vinyl for a few bucks. I bet PoLaK would sell you some for a fair price. |
Hmmm, gonna leave mine on for now.
|
