I've noticed that the finish on my car is damaged. You can see the line where the plastic protective wrap was on the car and where it wasn"t. You can even feel the difference in texture on your fingertips between these areas of the car. One area is rough, the other smooth like glass. The hood is fine, the trunk is fine as is most of the roof. It is the middle of the car and front and rear bumber areas that feel a bit sandblasted and are slightly discoloured.
The dealership has spent two days detailing the car to try to fix the problem and it is much better but even their own detailer said I would have to keep waxing it pretty consistently. Can only notice now in direct sunlight.
The car is black with 4000 kms on it and I'm a litte concerned what the future might hold. Only had it 6 or 7 weeks. It was delvered to my lease agent absolutely filthy so there was no way to notice on delivery. I only noticed when different parts of car didn't seem to match after the second wash.

Any thoughts or similar experiences out there? I've also posted this on the Canadian thread but lookng for advice in a bigger pond.

My car has/had several panels like that. I could run my hand down it and it would be smooth and then all of a sudden it would feel like sand paper. All I could do was just apply a ton of wax and smooth it out.

The color difference though is a bigger problem. That is something that should've been addressed at the time of purchase and may be too late now. I know most dealerships will give 30 days or so to address problems and after that you are SOL.
