Thanks. I did read through the thread; but I couldn't quite determine what the consensus was. Sorry for the blunder on my part.

Who's many? I'm only aware of one. If it ain't in the FSM as a factory or port option, it isn't legal.

Don't say that.... All the people that have spent money on a rear strut tower brace will be crushed. And obviously if there is a healthy demand for rear strut tower braces they must be effective, therefore a performance advantage.

I did not know that. I too am a first time racer in this sport. I have gone to a race with the texas coastal bend division. They dont band what I mentioned. I will ask so I wont feel I went for no reason. What should I ask? In reference to what's legal and what's not legal?

I for one have found them on the mazda inventory and seen it on cars just off a transporter that had yet to be pdi'd. Seems like a factory or port option to me.

I have nothing against you StrokerAce, but to play devil's advocate here, consider this: cars are often transferred between dealers inorder to get the "right car" into the hands of a buyer. These cars frequently come fresh-off-the-transporter with options installed by the previous dealership.

With the stiff backbone structure of the RX-8, there will be little to no gain from running this spare tire bar. Our cars don't make a lot of power, so our main advantage comes from dropping weight -- not adding it.

How dense can people be.

The online inventory is published by the Mazdausa and the dealers cannot list dealer installed options on it. I have to laugh out loud at anybody stupid enough to maintain that the FSM is the only valid and completely perfect documentation. They are frequently in error, include items never sold in the USA, exclude items sold in the USA and not even published for every year of a model. Not to put it past a protest committee ruling wrong (even knowingly and intentionally, yes I observed it done at nationals and PC members admitted it).

Cars do get transferred between dealers, but they do not come on a transporter loaded with new cars all with that dealer's name on the sticker.

Maybe the reason for running the bar is you actually want to have a spare tire, ever thought of that?

I wonder what kind of a tizzy you and ullose will go into if the trunk kit cars are added to BS.

Per the rulebook, acceptable forms of proof include a Monroney window sticker and/or FSM. FSM's are written by human beings and will have errors, but these are the rules we play by...

I'm curious StokerAce; why you always have to be so rude and confrontational? It's consistent in your posts. Can't you simply state an opinion without editorial commentary? It's not necessary to put other people down to state your case. Grow up!

StrokerAce, in case you wanted to see what the SCCA rule book states word-for-word regarding req'd documentation, the relevant section is quoted below:

3.8 REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
The entrant has the burden of proving that the vehicle conforms to
these Rules by the required documentation for the category/class,
as noted below. The required documentation should be considered
as an extension of these Rules.

A. Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared, Street Modified:
The official manufacturer’s service documentation for the make,
model, and year of the vehicle as entered, if ever available to the
consumer from the manufacturer. Additional official
manufacturer’s service documentation for other years and/or
models may also be required to cover equipment and/or specifications
authorized by update/backdate allowances. Other official
manufacturer’s documentation, such as the owner’s manual, shop
manual, parts catalogs, technical bulletins, sales and marketing
literature, or Monroney window sticker may be provided as
supporting information.
All manufacturer’s documentation must
be for non-competition purposes.

I have only been respectful and polite in my posts. I'm with docgatorx8er that your posts are consistently rude in nature.

It is always easier to be confrontational when the opposition has better evidence.

Sales and marketing hummm.....

How about:
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...gModels.action

Choose the rx8, the model of your choice, color of your choice and see the options list.
Note the Spare as a regular option.

Again check the link to a actual car in inventory ( you can find lots and lots of others) Then click on the window sticker.

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/vlSe...rue&engine=ALL

---
. Other official
manufacturer’s documentation, such as the owner’s manual, shop
manual, parts catalogs, technical bulletins, sales and marketing
literature, or Monroney window sticker may be provided as
supporting information. All manufacturer’s documentation must
be for non-competition purposes.
------

Seems like the above all would be actually covered. Probably could get a Monroney sticker copy for a six pack of beer.

I don't understand why (except to be a troll) ulooser doesn't get it. It comes on the car as oem from the factory. When I was in Alabama the local dealer seem for the 2004 and 2005 model years to order a minimum of half of their inventory with it.

I really could care less about the spare tire kit / STB, but I did just get an FSM for Nationals (no sense taking chances ). Out of curiosity, where would I look to determine what is a port installed vs. dealer installed option?

Thanks.

Is stock offset 50 mm?

If BS legal wheels are +/- .25 inches, that would makes the BS legal offsets between 43.65 and 56.35 mm, assuming 25.4 mm/inch?

From my understanding, you're correct on all accounts.

I think you mean between 43.65 and 56.35 millimeters. +43.65 inch offset would have the left side tires to the right of the right side tires.
