I tried to sum this thread up for easy reference in another thread but StokerAce began personal attacks. So I'll sum it up here to try and help newbies for searches.

Light wheels, stock size, +/- 1/4" offset. SUGGESTIONS/MOST COMMON?

Front sway bar explanation: When one side of your vehicle's suspension compresses, or pushes down on the springs, the anti-sway bar is pulled up. The resulting twist in the bar forces the other end to pull down. This force will lift the compressed corner of the vehicle and pull down on the unloaded wheel on the other side. The result: your vehicle will lean less and handle better.

STU - Street Touring Ultra. Although, I get that confused with BSP-B Street Prepared.

 

Correct. He would be in STU as long as he ran street tires with a 140 tread wear rating or higher (also cannot be wider than 275).

BSP allows all STU mods and some additional ones (e.g. you can delete your catalytic converters). In BSP you're also allowed to run Dot-R rubber of any width.

I don't believe it says that Koni has a remote. The list states the limits the limits on the shocks and states that most common recommended is Koni.

The OZ Ultraleggeras are what Beth runs with. The more budget oriented go with the Enkei RPF1s. Same model I have but in the 18x8 config to meet BS specs. Goodwin Racing or AutoRND sell wheel/tire combo packages with offsets compatible for BS.

Getting more savings typically requires custom wheels. Hard to find the 18x8 with the allowed offsets in weights lower than what OZ and Enkei offer.

 

I have never seen a BS legal RPF1, the 18X8 is a 35mm offset which is way off. Could you be thinking of the GTC01 or the RPM2?

Looks like you can special order RPF1s. Not sure why anyone would since the special order would probably end up costing more than the OZs.

Anyhow, the least expensive "light" BS wheel is the Rota P1, 19lbs and under $800 a set.

 

Some interesting grammar by Brian on that one (said he had ordered it but was checking on the wait for it...) but I'm sure you're right and I'm back to being completely wrong. They make 'em in Japan in that offset but it doesn't look like anyone imports 'em with that offset.

SSRs had a set that was lightweight in the proper size/offset but they stopped producing them. Still find 'em used occasionally if you are shopping around. Same dimensions as the Ultraleggeras at 18x8 +48.

The OZ weighs less, if that is important to you, then I would say they are better.

 

Stage 1 300 series by mazsport, all gauges for the kit, front and back strut bars by mazda speed, mazdaspeed brake pads (front), ACT CLutch, Mazdaspeed suspension, shoei helmet (needed), last but not least skills i actually do the race with porshes and a few rx8's (2) including me. www.rgvpca.org sucks but hey they r good sports!

 

To bad the only things on your list that are legal, and apply to BS, are the brake pads and helmet.

 

Isn't that the mounting bar for the spare tyre kit? If so, I would think that it would be allowed. It looks like the spare tyre kit bar in mine.

 

yes, that is the spare tire bar. If you read through the hole thread this was discussed at length and determined to be not BS legal.
