Because the mount is a bar that bolts in, that someone could possibly be completely delusional about it strengthening the chassis and making the car faster.

Isn't it crazy that enough people will buy a bar like that to "strengthen" the chassis that Mazda and all ricers shops sell a similar part: http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/spee...ModelYear=2004

The appearance pkg is the aero flares-side aero flares-rear and front dam-front. Legal as a complete set. The oem-rear spoiler is a standalone option.

Jason,
I have no reason to doubt you on this, but this seems like a fine hair to split. What documentation is considered acceptable to show whether a window sticker option is indeed dealer installed? How would the average auto-x competetor know whether a part on his or her vehicle that is shown on the factory sticker was actually installed outside of the official factory/port chain?

Factory shop manual is the first step.

btw this "factory installed" part as Stroker calls it does not show up in the 2004+ parts pdf.

Lots of stock class currently "legal" parts from a certain Mazda aren't shown in the parts PDF or FSM....

And I finally drive one this last weekend.

Yet another weak shot by FM at the MS-R.

You were the one saying that you need to start at the FSM and parts PDF's.

So...If I protest parts cause they arent shown in those documents, is it upheld?

How bout not being able to buy the parts at the dealerships?

ONLY Mazdaspeed members can purchase the parts which I also think is odd since there is no other situation like this one in stock class solo.

If I do protest the parts, it is probably going to be denied about that car. I already know that. Cause in THIS case a open checkbook was ok. Right?

I probably will protest the parts and I think my protest will be well founded cause the parts aren't shown in the above documents and can't be purchased at the dealers.

Maybe Mazda will correct those things before Packwood?

Or someone "official" could call me and privately admit that it is a trunk kit and I will shut up about the whole thing.

Please do not try and compare a dealer installed part on the RX-8 with the MX-5 MS-R package. Just another lame thread derail by you.

I said step one is the FSM, and just mentioned that the spare tire brace is not in the parts PDF, I never said this is the only method of proof.

As far as the MS-R, I have all the documentation I need to build one a feel comfortable racing it. I wish you would put up or shut up on your protest crap, I would get nice laugh out of it.

Get over your MX-5 issues or start another thread, like maybe on the Miata net, if they will listen to you anymore.

Yes, if you also do the cattle guard on the front, it is all one package.

You're on to something. The rear spoiler isn't in the parts fich/pdf.

By your proposed standard of "factory installed" you car is illegal. Guess if you were a man of honor you would package up your jackets and trophies and send them back to the SCCA with an apology. )

the problem is that the so called parts fiche that most us have access to was a very early 2003 edition, which is lacking in many ways

I believe you'll find the option listed in the sales brochure

and it was nice to sit back and during someone else's p-ssing match for a change

Its just to bad you don't get it, the port is an extension of the factory as far as the Solo rules go, the dealer is not. What you can spec online, and where it gets installed are two different things.

I will bring my car, with wing, to its 4th natls. You show up with your spare tire kit, and we will see how things shake out. btw The FSM shows a factory "spoiler" but not a "spare tire mount", who do you think wins the protest.

Of course I could take it off, just to save the 3lbs and maybe go faster.

So what is your proof?

I provided links to two cars that are currently in inventory showing that they have the spare tire option. It isn't being "spec'd" online. That is a actual physical inventory item. The online inventory system does not show any dealer installed options. Please explain your stance.

I have seen cars with the sticker showing the spare tire option. And not a reprinted sticker. I have seen it just off the truck without any pdi showing the spare tire on the factory window sticker.

Or are you just being a mark^h^h^h^hdick?

Hers's an old thread (very old) that mentions the spare as a PORT option.

"I have the spare kit, it was port installed. If it wasn't already installed in the car, I wouldn't have bought it. Now that I have it, I would never leave home without it."

I don't have to prove you are not legal in a protest, the FSM that you have to have will do that. If that is not enough one of the other manuals, there are more than one, also shows the spare as N/A on the RX-8.

You might also check further into what comes with the kit when you order it...

Must be some doubt on your part if you are looking to this forum for proof. lol I just look at the books, that is where the PC will look.
