MO What have you done to prep for STX?

I am thinking about moving to STX for next season and wondering what mods other RX8 folks have done to prep for the class so I can try to put together a plan. I have a 2004 GT model.

Thanks in advance.

First go here, http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_R...solo_rules.pdf, and start reading. As you used to road race, you know that knowledge is power. People giving up their setup, give you an advantage on the course.

You can also read this thread, https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=3730754, where much of this stuff has already been discussed.

Some people are more open than others. Here's a thread listing different STX set-ups:

Maybe he read all those threads and was looking for a winning set up?

Well maybe I worded what I was looking for a bit wrong. I was thinking more on the line of the best order to do the mods, based on most effect first and so on. I have a tight budget, and to be honest I want to keep the car a streetable as possible. I have already upgraded brake with Hawk HP+, and Koni Sport shocks, and have a good autox alignment but that is it. And I did read a lot of the threads but didn't know which mods to do first.

Based on the mods you currently have, I'd get some good STX wheels and tires next - 17x9/18x9 wheels and 255-265 tires. From there, I'd upgrade from the koni sports to some coilovers.

If I go the 17X9 wheels, what offset do I need to be looking for? That is one thread I have did not see in the wheels area, but then I can be blind sometimes. I see a definite benefit to the 17 inch wheels vs 18 in two ways, tiny help in the RPM range and cost savings in tires. I was thinking coil overs next, what are the preferences that most of you like? And thoughts on spring rates, same front and back or different. I'm not very knowledgeable in suspension theory, I know the basics caster, camber, toe but not the area of spring rates and to be honest haven't found any articles that discuss this.
