What tires, what surface, what purpose?

Also, search is your friend...this has been asked/answered multiple times.

4k rpm and feather the clutch, you might burn it a lil but you should grab good and clean with a nice pull

TCS off and rev to 6000rpm. Sounds extreme and is horrible on the clutch but if you want the best possible acceleration you have to be rough.

it's only horrible if you slide the clutch, which you should never do with an OEM clutch

best to drop it and then manage the throttle appropriately instead

With stock tires, street driving.... I would say about 1200rpm launch and shift at about 3k, better for gas mileage.

Looks like a street race thread to me.

So, if I went to, say, a drag strip, and launched it on gummy race tires, what would be the techique? I know I'm gonna have to be gentle cuz the car just oozes torque, but seriously, is this exactly the same technique as the S2k? i.e. 6000RPM, side-step the clutch and spin the tires and let the tires catch up to the car? If that's how, I guess I won't be suuuuuper slow like I was a couple weeks ago...

yeah that's pretty much the gist of it, I've launched as high as 8000 rpm on Hoosier 285s

I am running yokahama ES100 225/45ZR18s and i launch at about 4000 on the street. I get some wheelspin but not too bad. On the strip with the same tires i launch at about 5000rpm. I had hell the first time i took it to the drag strip three days after i bought it. I tried dumping the clutch at 5000 and all it did was wheelhop through first gear. Just launch a few times and see what you like best.

it has to be above 4k for the rx8 really to make any nice power.. so >4k rpm and feather clutch depending on tires.

I hold mines at 3500rpm and when it's time to take off i step on the gas and while the revs are climbing i drop the clutch at 4500 and almost always get the same start.
On stock street tires.
Shift at 9k

My tires suck *****, but with the DSC off I can succesfully launch without wheelspin at ~5,500 on cold asphalt (~45F) feathering the clutch.

at the track I would say around 4-4.5k feathering the clutch. If street racing I would say 9-9.5K and slipping the clutch.
