Went to Eagle Canyon Raceway for my first track day!
Here are a couple of pics:
The only casualty of the day:
The rx8 was a trooper, and definitely surprised me for sure!
Still can't stop thinking about throwing the car into a tight curve two days later...
Photos taken with a GoPro HD Hero 2

Thanks!
Last Sunday they hosted a car group (ricekillers..i think?), which rented out the track and gave people a free 'introductory driving course' for people new to tracking.
We weren't allowed to overtake, and they had a pace car to limit the speed and teach us the proper lines to take.
And when I say that they limited our speed, I mean the pace car was a Boss 302, floored it every straightaway, and was far out of eyesight three laps in.
So for me, it was four buddies just carving a track in single file.
For free.

Track stuff in general isn't "cheap" persay, still cheaper than a speeding ticket, wreck, whatever messing around on the roads though. I'm hooked on it bad enough that I don't really spend money on mods anymore, just consumables and entry fees. I'd rather get to drive a car fast than have a fast car that I can't use to it's full extent

Nice. It weirds me out there are track days are still going on during winter.
It's my goal to make the trek down to Eagles Canyon and Motorsports Ranch this year. Maybe i'll see you there
Have fun. Keep learning. It's addictive

Really the track is not bad, but certainly no real fast sweepers, in my RX-7 I'd get up to about 115 on the back straight. I don't know about my RX-8 as it breaks after a session or so. I'm working the bugs out of a new transmission setup, but think I have it now.
MSR Cresson is a nice track, but I've never been fond of the newer back part of the track, okay for track days but not so race friendly IMHO. There are several great groups that sponsor track days at MSR.

There's melted plastic gunk on the exhaust tip and a giant hole on the shroud.
It's not too noticeable on the car and of all the battle-scars my 8 could have gotten i'm glad it was that one.
"I was tracking so hard, bro, that I melted my exhaust shroud"
Maybe! would be so interesting to track with more RX8s!
