Walnut Ridge tour/pro
Nice work, Asher takes the Walnut Ridge tour over EDJ... Way to keep the Hoosier guys down.

I don't think there's much to choose, between the Kumhos and Hoosiers, as far as speed. It comes down to who has the best day, the tires are so close.
Theoretically, if you were on the fat Hoosiers, you would expect a better 60' time over either 245, but we didn't really see that (with any consistency) at El Toro.

A 4 run Pro is...well...NOT a Pro. I also understand the tree wasn't working? Oh well, let's hope next year, which looks like the "make it or break it" year for Pro, goes smoothly!

Yeah, edj was on 245 Hoosiers, and he drove very well this weekend. The rest of the RX-8 field was on 245 Kumhos. We had the 2nd biggest field of the weekend, and by far the closest racing. For example, the gap from 1st to 2nd in STS2 (the weekend's biggest class) was 0.772 seconds, The gap from 1st to 8th in B Stock was only 0.765 seconds! It was a fun class to run in this weekend. Congrats to Asher for cleaning up on Saturday (both at the Tour and at the poker table), and to edj for his win in Sunday.
Sunday's "Pro" was a bit of a train wreck. Basically, we had a modified version of Saturday morning's Tour course with a 275' straight at the start. No tree, no staging, no reaction time, etc. Basically it was a four run Tour with a drag start, except that each driver had to make all four of their runs before the 2nd driver got the car.
We found out about all of this at the driver's meeting Sunday morning, because when we left the banquet at 9pm on Saturday, we still didn't know what the format was going to be, how many runs, or even how the heats were going to be broken up. While I understand that this was a freebie event and an experiment, I can't say I'd be interested in attending another single course Pro.
I'd just like to get one other gripe off my chest: based strictly on time differential from the class leader, the top eight drivers in B Stock should have qualified for the Super Challenge. However, there is apparently a rule that only the top five form any one class can make the Challenge. So, even though Jeremy Foley, Bryan Hertweck, and I all ran fast enough to qualify on merit, we were barred from the Challenge based on our class finishing positions. Even when Aaron and James dropped out to get on the road, we still weren't allowed to make the Challenge, even though we outdrove some of the people who did qualify. That's crap.

if edj would get that rectal-cranial inversion problem fixed maybe he could
show up in Topeka without being ashamed to be taking the space of a good
driver...
ps. That cone Saturday morning was a stupid move, just like the screwup i
made for my last afternoon run... either one would have moved me ahead
of Asher.
pps. Salina Snakes made a reappearance costing me a better challenge result.
I guess Kumhos aren't sticky enough to attract them...

I agree with Jason. The whole system of the challenge rounds are flawed as it currently stands.
One of the reasons I was liking the idea of the single course format was because I was hoping it would be far more difficult to tell where the other car was in relationship to where you were on course.

Fun event...certainly the tightest competition I've ever seen...add the times up from both events, the difference from fastest to eighth fastest was only 1.059 secs over approx. 120 secs total time...even in topeka it's rare to find fields that tight (although in this case, things are certainly compressed due to the lack of variation in the courses).
In addition to the tight competition, it was a great group of guys in BS...great seeing some of you guys again and great meeting those I had not met before...I look forward to competing again...whether it be in BS, some other class, or at the poker table :-)
