So who's going where? I'm in for Walnut Ridge. Don't know about that Milton Frank Event, I mean it's sooo far, like 6 minutes from my house.

If life allows, this year, I'll do San Diego, Atwater and Packwood. Last year I missed San Diego.

Walnut Ridge is probably too far for us. We'd both like to do Milwaukee, but at 800 miles... Huntsville at 700 miles would be possible, but coming the week before Devens makes it tougher to justify. Great Lakes region...depends on where in the region. If it's closer than Peru, probably, further than Peru probably not, Peru... The SER event also depends on where. Ft Myers, no. Atlanta, no (if it's Gwinnett, elsewhere, maybe...February doesn't sound good).

And we'll be doing the DC Pro. Maybe the GLR or SER as well in case we want to do the Finale...but there's not a lot of motivation to plan on it right now.

And we won't be in BS. :D

I'm hearing that they're trying to lockdown South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA (about 2.5 hours south of Atlanta for the February event.

I liked Peru, but jeez, what's the point now that nats is on asphalt? Devens was fun, want to do that one again. Hopefully it'll stay dry.

Milwaukee is enticing, though not sure I want to tow that far.

Atlanta, agreed.. if it's at Gwinnett, NO WAY. Elsewhere, it might be fun. I liked the area and the haul wasn't boring.

Not sure if there is any point to us doing Pros. The car ain't gonna win if Jonathan shows up. But they're fun. But the program sucks this year. But I want to support it. Ach!

I'll be at Walnut Ridge, Houston and Hunstville. Maybe Atlanta. It sounds like some of you aren't that excited about the site so I'll wait and see what happens.

The site for Atlanta sucks assuming it's still at Gwinnett. The surface is very old asphalt, lots of bumps and dips, and the lot is really not big enough for a tour, IMO.

Especially when we came home in '05 with 398 entires (or so), ran 6th heat and didn't get off site until about 7pm after spending all day basking in that midwestern sun.

We also had a little adventure in getting there due to some closed back roads that added at least an hour on the way out.

Gotcha...is it that different from getting to Devens? Certainly can't be as much of a traffic nightmare.

I'll probably do (Aaron probably too):
Feb 24/25--Southeast TBA--probably wherever that ends up, just 'cause I'll have the itch that bad and it shouldn't be too far away
Apr 28/29--Walnut Ridge--maybe...that's right around finals for me, so I'm not sure how easy it'll be to get away
Jun 2/3--Huntsville--definitely
Jun 30/Jul1--Great Lakes TBA--probably if it's Peru, maybe not if it's further
Jul 7/8--Milwaukee--would be tempting if we don't go the weekend before

Clyde and I have been talking about doing the great lakes tour, then driving up to Milwaukee afterwards and parking the rig for a week... flying back to MD, then flying out for the MKE tour. My dad lives in Milwaukee and has a driveway big enough for the rig to sit on for a week.

Of course, Clyde and I are nuts for considering this.

Devens is actually a pretty easy drive if you pick the right time to leave, and it is much shorter than Peru. The only real traffic we dealt with was around Hartford CT on the way out and DE/MD on the way back (stupid beach traffic)

DC<->Boston can be really bad the whole way up and down. If you can time it right going up, it's usually not too bad. Coming back down on a Sunday night can be absolutely miserable from south Jersey until almost Baltimore, but I295 in south Jersey is a decent alternative to the TPK, and if you cut over to US40 and take that down to just above the Baltimore Beltway you can make better time than 95 if it's bad.

Devens was about 430 miles from my house, IIRC. Peru about 650 miles.

Great idea. I might join you at the Airport....The traffic thou in and out of Chicago is the same as DC/NJ 95...Really bad. Milwaukee is a excellent site. Just about the right size for a good National's course. They opted to host a Pro but were not included in the scheduling.
These are the only events close for me. A DC Tour would be better than a Pro. I can't believe I'm saying that. Alas, with no real Pro end of year points etc, why participate in the series. It is also my favorite part of AX...

Looks like a couple of ride swaps might be in order

I think this will be a short year for us... Maybe we can take a real vacation instead of spending all our money on tours/pros.

For sure events:
San Diego Tour
Irvine Prosolo
Nationals

Maybe:
Prosolo Finale
Atwater Tour
UT Tour

Not gonna come up for packwood!?

I dunno what I'm gonna do this coming year. I don't know if I really care enough to drive to california for 4 minutes of driving. We'll see.

I have zero interest in ever going back to Packwood. I thought the lot was ok, to small for a decent Prosolo course, and the towns hotels and restaurants sucked. imho Bremerton is a way better NW site. Jennifer wants to go back but till the day comes she spends 20+ hours on the road that wont happen. I would consider going up there again only if we had a motor home.

Interesting. Well, with the change in prosolo, I don't see myself doing any national pros this year, so I was thinking more about NTs. The town definitely sucks, but what can ya do. I hate bremerton - the courses are always virtually identical, the surface sucks, if you lose it in several places you can do some real damage to your car, it's always cold there other than in the very middle of the summer, etc.

We have one of the biggest lots you could ever ask for in San Diego and you run there enough all the courses look the same. All the years I lived in the NW and ran in Bremerton I never saw an accident, while I know they have had some experienced drivers wreck some cars I would have to point the finger at poor course design. Same thing can happen in SD if they do not watch where they point the course. I have only been to Packwood once and already seen a rollover, so which is worse. Another nice thing about Bremerton is a short drive, 20 mins, and you can get to a decent size town. Packwood is an hour away from anything. As far as weather all the years I have been up there it only rained once and was awesome every other time. I remember the year it rained Bill Beutow said that in the farmers almanac it had only rained one other time on that weekend ever, they use to have the tour the same weekend every year. I think the surface at Bremerton is great, a lot like HPT. If they moved the tour back to Bremerton I would make the drive for sure. Even when there was not a back to back pro/tour we use to go up there every year from AZ, I think it was the best tour of the year.

Interesting perspective. I guess I'm probably too new to this game to see all the courses look the same yet. =)

For DKNV and I it's looking like:

San Diego Tour (BS)
El Toro Pro (BS)
Atwater Tour (TBD)
Salt Lake Ciyt Tour (TBD)
Pro Finale & Nats (TBD)

we talked about Backwood, WA but decided against it. It probably didn't help that our experience overall last year was everything that could possibly go wrong, did.

EDITED, the Packwood site is really pretty decent, we just had a bad experience that had nothing to do with the site or the area in general

Yep, that makes it hard to justify the long drive and I do agree that the last slog on the two lane was a PIA.

No debating that the Packwood/Mt. Ranier area is gorgeous, though!

I hope I have the time this year to go up there, again. But, if they run one of the new "experimental" Pro's, I'll probably pass on that...
