NC Used Conti/grand am race tires

My brother buys his tires for track days straight from BimmerWorld used for a crazy cheap price. I typically just run on my streets but wondered what size the GA RX8's are running, anybody know? Prob huge considering its a tube car, but I was curious if anybody on here knows a good source of those used continental tires.

TIA

Unfourtunatly the tires you speak of are not DOT approved. However if you still really want some I can get you some sources. I think you would be better off looking for used Hoosier R6 tires. Personally I would never use any of these options for the street but to each his own!

def not for the street. More for some testing purposes for CS autox over some Kumho V710's and Hoosier A6's.

Thanks for the info, some potential sources would be great!

It's not very clear what you're looking for anymore. The Continentals are not DOT-approved tires (they lack the circumferential grooves that A6's, V710's, Z214's, R1's, etc. have), and so slapping them on would kick you out of CS and dump you straight into FP.

Even if they were legal, I don't think they'd have nearly as good autocross performance as the A6's and V710's because you'd never get enough heat into them. I just threw a set of the 245/45/17's on my car for a weekend at Mid-Ohio, and they definitely aren't at their full potential until a couple of laps in.

That said, if you're looking for a tire just to do some track days, I think you can't really go wrong with them. Most of my track time before this past weekend was on Star Specs which are just not very heat tolerant. The Continentals had lots of grip and made the weekend extra fun. I actually bought them because they were about the cheapest good tire I could find to burn up at an HPDE. The wear is surprisingly good too considering the fact that I ran eight 20 minute sessions.

for intentional series durability purposes they are a harder compound than the Hoosier R6 track tire

you would be better off with the Hoosier 295/30-18 A6, that's really what it is with the harder compound

Sorry guys for not being clear. I have some A6's and V710's for autox duty. I typically autox my CSP Miata anyways but occasionally run this in CS at locals where I run the pro class that is all pax based anyways. I was curious how this harder compound would act on a typical locals course as well as use this during track days as well. The main use of these would be track days at VIR, CMP or RR. One of these days I will try out RA!
