Tire pressures

Hi Guys,

I just purchased some Falken Azenis RT 615... They have made a HUGE difference for me! I'm now beating the 350Z guys in my class!

Anyways... I have been running PSI 30 front 28 in the rear..
I have been doing some reading and I think it should be higher?

Any thoughts?

Thanks =)
Beth

Maybe slightly more pressure 32-35 for those tires. Are you autocrossing? Have you been checking for how much tire roll your getting?

Reccomended pressure in my manual (2005 GT) is 35psi all the way around.

I run at 37 evry day .... 38 for AX ... but I may try it lower next event.

32 all around just like in the manual is fine.

i'm keeping up with the 'faster' cars with these settings.

Thanks for the input on pressures, I raised them to 32 front and 30 rear and came in first out of 4....

for autox with the RT 615s i have found 34-35 psi all around to be just right. These are hot pressures, so check them before each run to make sure that your heading out there with those pressures.

I liked 32/30 or 34/32 on my 255/40/17 RT615's.

autocrossing 615's

The manual is not going to help you with autocrossing or 615's. Pick a starting point, chalk the side walls and see how much roll you have.

Times usually looked like this:
Them 42.202
Me 42.213

Now I'm
Me 40.661
Them 41.518 and 41.601

I cant believe the difference......... Its either the tires or I'm getting better!!!!!! Or both!!!

Why are most of you(Auto-X) guys running less pressure in the rear?

Actually, you are gettin' worse, but the new tires are doing all they can to keep up. Balances out for the better in the end.

BTW, my tires get down right sloppy at 32. I keep them around 38.

When I autocross I Chalk the tires in 3 places then set the tire pressure about 40 all round and drop until I am using all the tire. Typically 40 up front and 39 at the back. When you get better you will use more of the tire because you corner quicker so you need to increase the pressure. Chalk line should be rubbed off where the tread is but not rub on the side wall. Some tires have a little arrow to show you where the best line is. Best thing to do is trail and error if you change is by about + or - 2 psi you should really feel the difference in the cars handling.
