Clyde, nice summary...talk about "mixed feelings"!

The Boxster S is a wonderful car and I think we will see it doing very well in AS, next year. There might be a couple of possible course configurations that the RX8 could be faster than the Boxster S, but I doubt it.

The RX-8 is better in sweepers than the Boxster, but I can't quantify by how much.

Just remember for our readers we were talking about Auto-x comparison Boxter vs RX8.
HDPE/Track is a different setup and handling. see John's note ^

Sorry, but "blowing doors" in an open track/HPDE event doesn't count..for anything

No doubt lapping is fun, but don't confuse it with actually racing or competing!

I used to regularly pass Boxsters, Corvettes, Vipers, and 911s at lapping days all the time in my C Stock Miata. What's that prove? Absolutely nothing.

Nice write up, John. Y'all have fun in A Stock next season!

Contingency money for nationals added up to about $5000 for some of the Solo National Champions.

hey, some people like autox. It's not my cup of tea, I much prefer actual on track driving. I can't bag on anyone's personal choice of what they chose to do with their car.

And, I'm not bagging on your passion for track days...just don't confuse it with actual racing or anything other than what it is...a bunch of guys having fun with their cars in a relatively controlled environment. Getting the point by from some guy who's in no hurry, regardless as to whether he's in a Ferrari Enzo or VW Rabbit, doesn't make you "fast" or prove anything.

Hey, I've done club racing (both motorcycles and cars), open track, raced vintage sports cars and presently focus on competing in autocross...as far as I'm concerned, it's all good

Yeah but didn't the first place B stock winner actually end up spending more money than he won in contingency money (although it wasn't a lot). Point is, you should never get into autocross to make any money because you just won't.

All that means is that the driver sucks.

Good luck in that quest for the HPDE championship next year!

19 event weekends this year for a total out of pocket cost of about $5000. That $5k includes all travel (gas, hotel, food, tolls), entry, tire, maintenance, part (including shipping), club membership, and vehicle depreciation expenses.

I don't think I know anyone that does more than a handful of track events a year that is spending a total of less than $263/event over a year when including all the same expenses.
