The STX thread!
That $2800 does not include springs or top hats. They are about to release a new 4210 kit for the RX8 without the remote reserviors which should (hopefully) cost less.

Another ECU tuning option?
Came across this on miata.net when the Harvey/Rogers MX-5 went with this for their STR tune.
http://www.hypertech.com/

Tirerack sells this system for the RX-8 on their website: http://www.tirerack.com/engine_tunin...6&autoModClar=
Hypertech has a dyno graph for an automatic (1st page) and manual (2nd page) RX-8 here: http://www.hypertech.com/Performance..._Automatic.pdf
While used Cobb AP's are still abundant, it's nice to see another option on the market. I'm trying to get more info about it and find out if the tune can be optimized by a Dyno Shop to account for mods like an intake, headers, high flow cat, etc.

Well...Went to get an alignment today...Looks like the front left camber bolt is seized up...Don't know how, we tried air hammer..everything to get it to come loose, wouldn't budge. Now i'm running -2.2 in the front left and -2.8 front right

That's weird Mike. I assume your RX-8 isn't your daily driver? Funny how those bolts can become seized over time. Any chance you can cut it off and replace it with a new one after Nats?
^I'll be able to replace it just fine, but unfortunately it won't be until after Lincoln.
And my RX8 is my daily...But My weekly commute is maybe 30-40 miles..Over the summer it was probably only 15. I work close to home

During the last 6-8 weeks, I've noticed that my car had picked up a mid-corner to corner-exit push -- most noticeable in left hand sweepers. My steering wheel had also become noticeably off-center when driving down a straight road. Well, I got my alignment checked today. Seems like I had a 1/2" of toe out on the front passenger side wheel. LOL.
She's back to -2.5 degrees per side up front, along with 0.00 toe and 7 degrees of caster (up from my previous setting of 6.5 degrees). Still on the stock front a-arms, so I'm happy with these specs.

Yea the top hats aren't included, but it says springs are. If you get custom springs it's extra. I wasn't aware that they were releasing a new kit from the RX8. I'm looking into the 4100 series myself for the E36 M3. Most people I have talked claim that AST's are the best suspension in that price range($2,000.)
Looks like you're not the only one with a funky alignment...

First off congrats on your win in ST at Nats in the '91 civic si. That win definitely gave hope to those w/o the magic year '89!

Mazda Motorsports sells the competition RX-8 front a-arms. I do not have the part #'s handy, but I know TeamRX8 had a set on STU car (possibly has them on his STX RX-8) and might have the part #'s handy.
--Chike
P.S. FWIW, on the stock front a-arms, at my current 13.5" ride height F&R (center of hub to top of wheel arch), I can get up to -2.7 on the front left, and ~-3.2 on the front right IIRC (may have the sides reversed). I just choose to run -2.5 (based on tire rollover, tire temps, etc).

I'll give Mazda Motorsports a call tomorrow. My current front ride height is approx 1/4" lower then your car. I still have to mess around with it some. Are you still running the 255 Hankooks?
I'm not aware of any Motorsport control arms. The lower Motorsport control arm bushings are good for 1/2 degree camber, but not ST legal (spherical bearing in an aluminum housing).
Somebody had a custom set of upper arms made back in the STU days. Somebody else was trying to CNC some upper arms for more turning/tire clearance on an SCCA track car. Not sure if he ever did or not and whether they added camber.

Correct. 255/40/17 Hankooks.
I'm not sure how much more I'll be developing my STX car as it's likely I'll be driving a GS car next season.
My apologies to Jeff. Thanks for the clarification Mark.

Jeff,
Not sure about legality, but you may want to contact the OP in this thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=3318252
Edit: From looking at his description, it looks like these use spherical bearings and would not be legal:

If you can check and see if you still have them. Sounds like Jeff would like to source a set.
an outfit in WI made them for me from their jig which they'd developed for a customer who wanted upper arms for rallying. i'll have to check my notes on how much negative camber they allowed, but it was quite substantial. they'd be ideal for a camber challenged rx8.
Hypertech is a vendor on one of the other forums I'm active on. Heres a link to some more information.

i still have them in my basement i think...
