The STX thread!

I am getting ready to start my first season with the RX8 and will compete in STX, so I need to read through this thread, but for now I have a quick question I hope someone that frequents this thread can help me with.
The car I bought already had swift lowering springs, Bilstein shocks, and racingbeat sway bars. When I purchased it there where quite a few clunks in the front that I Identified as the end links. So I replaced those with some delphi end links and ever since there has been some squeaking coming from the front. This week I put on new pads and rotors, sway bar bushings and a few other items, and noticed there is slack between the front sway bar and the end link stud. Which is causing the squeaking sound. Does anyone know if the RB sway bar just has larger holes than are necessary, or if there are certain end links that need to be used on the series two that have a properly sized stud.
Thanks.

i have seen some end link kits that have larger diameter studs, which might mean your swaybars were drilled out larger than they came to accommodate. This is obviously not a good situation. You'd want to either run proper diameter end link studs or you could fab some bushings / sleeves that fit between the studs and the holes in the bar to take up that "slack". otherwise your studs are going to get mangled and the free play might elongate the holes in the bars and the slop / play won't be doing you any favors dynamically.

the RB bars came with the OE size 10mm end link holes. However they used (?) to also sell a set of endlinks back in the day with 12mm studs claiming they were stronger. In reality the 10mm size has proven more than adequate. So possibly somebody bought a set of those and drilled the bar for them. Another possibility is if one or more ends is not tightened well the back and forth effect of the bar on the end link during cornering could wallow the hole out over time.

Very good drive in STX RX-8 at DC Tour

My goals going in was not to get raw timed by SSC, and top 25 PAX. Overachieved a bit. Hope to see more RX8s in STX. It can get the job done.

What program are you using to display the data?!
Those AFR's look like my old S5 N/A with upgraded fuel pump, I'm sure pulling some fuel would wake the car up quite a bit. Not sure about the Renesis, but I kept pulling fuel (Apexi SAFCII) until I was at 13.5 AFR at the leanest and tapered to about 12.5 by redline. Car seemed a lot happier than running the 10.5-11.5 AFR the stock tune.

^^ Pace should be around the A052, maybe a bit slower. Great for track use though, they wear a LOT better than the RE-71R, which is pretty awesome considering it's also faster.

Have any real tests been done on these? I think people are worried about performance in the wet, based just on the tread pattern. And they're worried that Bridgestone focused more on track day performance than autocross.

Here's the only real data I've found on the RS:
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=285
They found it was worth about 0.3 over the old RE-71R on a 30 second course.
This test put the old RE-71R trailing the A052 by about half a second on a 50 second course. Looks like the RS will be very competitive!

Finally had some time to corner balance the car. Here’s what we managed to do on my S2 with full interior.
Without me in a car. total 2,897 lbs
with me in the car. total 3083 lbs
took the car to the track next day

Wow that's an excellent curb imo. The red ring on the front of your car has me thinking it looks like a pacifier. Just me, ha
My 1st balance
LF- 759 RF- 815
LR- 735 RR- 657
2966 curb (1/2 tank, no ballast, I'm approx 185-190 lbs) full interior, A/C, stereo, etc)
2nd balance
LF- 774 RF- 771
LR- 708 RR- 689
New curb- 2942 (1/2 tank, no ballast, still approx 185-190 lbs) full interior, A/C, stereo, etc)
Currently waiting to get my vehicle back but I'm hoping to be down around 2650 or less curb. Near complete interior gut, full cage, etc.

back in the B Stock autox days the 2004-2005 base S1 was down at ~2800 lbs without driver and several gallons of fuel, 18x8 SSR wheels with 245/40 Hoosiers, full interior, cat-back exhaust
in STX trim I was at ~ 2700 lbs, but you won’t get there with the typical off-the-shelf parts

I am really looking to this weekend. It will be my first autocross in a few years. I registered for the first Washington DC event of the season and I can't wait. I am new to the area so I look forward to meeting the local crew. In the past my job has kept me from making more than half the events in a year, not this year. I should be able to make them all.
The car is way underpropped at the moment, but I want to drive it as is before I start changing things. It already has a Racing Beat intake and cat back. I will be looking for a wheel and tire combo, and coil overs shortly. Seems like at least a front sway will be needed as well.
I have read all the way through this thread and I really appreciate all the insight that has been shared. I will try to get the alignment checked and set to something reasonable in the next few days, but I live out in BFE so I am not sure I will be able to find a place that will align to supplied specs rather than "factory settings". Its okay if I don't find a place as this first weekend is just meant to be a baseline so I am not setting my expectation very high at all.
