The STX thread!
No assistance whatsoever. I called corporate Mazda and complained and still was not able to get some sort of discount on parts...labor..nothing.
I'm having Motion Lab do the install instead of Mazda.

Hey everyone. My name is John and I am new here. I just picked up a bone stock Rx8 so I just wanted to post up in here since I will most likely be in this part of the forum the most. I have been autoxing and doing HPDE for the past 8 years. I ran a Honda del sol in STS and did pretty well in it. The new beast will for sure being seeing track time, so the research begins.
The biggest question I have right now is what is the best wheel and tire setup on this chassis? 17 or 18? Also is it best to run staggered or the same width? I was planning same width and tuning it with suspension and sways.
here is my old sol.

And the new one... not much to look at yet.

by and large most of the RX8s had problems in one form or another. I know Sparky had some various issues too. I'm knocking on wood because engine/powers issues are the least of my woes. For autox I'd rather be down some on power than be dealing with handling inconsistencies.
I blame the year I took off of autoX and slogged through commuting traffic every day.
It gives me a convenient excuse for how shitty I drove this year..."hey, I was down 30hp!"
Thanks for the input.
Oh ya my local SCCA region is San Diego, if any of you are in that area.
Ran the new ZII's yesterday in about 35 degree weather. The lot was wet with some standing water, sleet, snow, and rain all day. The lot had also been freshly sealed last year so it is very smooth. Let's just say the Toyo's were much better than the ZII's yesterday.
I'd bet the temperature and environment had a lot to do with the result. I remember last season in low 40 degree weather the ZI SS not working so well.
Registration open for NJ Pro. Best lot in the north east. Even though its asphalt, very similar car setup as Lincoln with slightly better grip when on street tires.
