We're expecting to see a new look at the top, too, as Jason Isley is testing an interesting array of parts on his ex-B Stock RX-8.
Well?

That's certainly consistent with what others have said. I'd be surprised if he is going BSP, but you never know. We won't know for sure until he registers, but that quote does indicate Jason is done with BS.

Well, Jason hasn't registered yet so either he is still working on the STX
conversion or he's just being coy...

I forgot to mention that the quote was under the "STX" sub heading of the article.

To answer the question you asked. Yes.

Locally, Jason has converted his ex-BS winning RX-8 to STX trim for an article he was working on. On another forum Jason mentioned that he needed ready access to an STX vehicle, and his RX-8 was a convenient choice.

FWIW, he's never talked about running STX at Nats. My hunch is that he'll run BS in the much-hyped 370Z...

Having just looked at the latest Sports Car myself, topgear8 is correct - in the BS section they state that Jason is moving to STX, and the sentence referenced above is where they are picking Jason to win STX.

It's Jason vs. Ron Bauer in different cars again. Shades of '05 BS.

I wish Jason well, then. It won't matter to me what class he's in, because I won't be running anywhere near the top anyway! :P

I just signed up for Lincoln last night. See you guys there!

Interesting. So SportsCar has joined the Isley propoganda train!

I'll believe it when I see it. Jason hates street tires, but from what my Subaru friends tell me (who compete with him locally), he's fast no matter what tires he's on!

P.S. Who did SportsCar pick to win BS? BryanH, Carter, Harvey, Tovsen???

Heitkotter.

And it wouldn't bother me if the Isley/STX thing was all a smokescreen, considering how close I've been running to a couple of the guys they named as potential alternates in STX (Coleman, Bauer).

It is easy to guide/misguide the train when I sit five feet from the conductor.

Putting the boss to work.

So why spend all of that money to go slower Jason? Wouldn't you have more fun in a BS RX-8...or 370Z?

I wouldn't spend all that money to go slower. Street tires suck. Well OK, they are good for drifting, and they give you the illusion that the RX-8 actually has power.

I would have more fun in an SS Porsche. The wife just got to try an ASP Ferrari 430, I did not.

New England Divional Championship

My weekend:
NEDiv had their divisional championships this weekend, and it was beautiful weather for racing. STX had a solid turn-out with 8 cars, three trophies, and contingency money from Bridgestone. The prospects of contingency drew quite a few ST (spec-) Civic Si's into STX for this event, and some very talented drivers pushed me just out of trophy contention.

Saturday: Very tight course with a heavy focus on slaloms. Slaloms are not my strength, and the tight course favored the smaller ST cars. I also had trouble staying clean and had to stand on my first run. Landed down in 5th or 6th after Saturday’s heats.

Sunday: Open, flowing course with lots of high-speed elements. The car felt great, and I posted some very respectable times. I believe I had the second-fastest time in STX today (behind a Civic), but my deficit from Saturday was huge.

In the end, I worked my way back up to 4th. Overall, a bit disappointing, but I am very happy with my Sunday runs, and I made a change to my driving style which I think will help me in future events. More importantly, I had a great time and met some great people.

So who were in the top three spots in STX? How did your Sunday times compare to the top times in ST & STU?

Results were just posted. The top three spots in STX went to Eric Chiang, Todd Kean, and Jeffrey Craven. Eric and Todd both trophied at Seneca this year. Jeff usually drives an SS Z06.

Looks like I was actually third fastest in STX on Sunday. That Sunday time would have been good enough for third in ST and 10th () in STU. Not terribly impressive, but I'm not giving up yet.

A funny thing happened on the way to the last slalom...

At a PCA event this last weekend, I noticed about 3/4 through the first run, just before the final slalom, that my sunglass case and associated prescription sunglasses were sliding around the passenger seat, bouncing here and there. ****. How did I miss that? Worse yet, they seperated and the glasses were bouncing all over the place (hey, it was a PCA event, OK?).

I get back to grid, and I can find the case but not the glasses. Did they fly out the window? Kind of bummed, I give up the search and wait for the next run. Which I then notice a rattling in the passenger door. Strange.

At the end of the event I put it together and look in the little storage compartment in the passenger door, and there are the glasses. All I can guess is that they were launched from the hard braking entering the slalom (did I mention the ET800 pads have fantastic bite?), and then the immediate left after braking sucked them right into the little cubby hole.

Whish my line on course had been that precise that day!

What are you guys seeing for weights?

I was 2825 on the SCCA scales at NEDiv. Based on TeamRX8's STU weight, I think it's time to put the RX8 on a diet.

I was heavier than that before I put in the battery, seat, and exhaust. I'm probably pretty close to that right now.
