STU changes on the horizon

• The following listing change proposal has been provided by the STAC and is being published for member feedback: Add the
BMW E46 M3 to class STU. (ref. 07-001)

This might be interesting to see at nationals, but sucks for the 8 and older model M3 (let's hope it's turned down)

• The following rule change proposals have been provided by the STAC and are being published for member feedback:
o Change 14.12.4 such that the maximum tire size is 265 and the maximum rim width is 9.0 inches, for 2WD (FWD
or RWD) only.
and I was so looking forward to the '09 4.77 gears with the 275s mounted all the way around (at least I have the 9" rims).

I wonder if 5.12 and some 315 kumhos would work in SM

re: the E46 M3 in STU:

If you can wade through the whole thing, it sounds like E36 M3 owners have nothing to worry about...except for the rally cars, which shouldn't run against 2wd cars, anyhow...

the only thing on the horizon is a request for feedback, some people still don't get it

well I'm sure the current STX competitors will have their say too ...

fwiw, the E46 M3 in STU has been under discussion for at least two years .... it's a request for member feedback; nothing more, nothing less.

I’m surprised nobody has commented on the proposed tire changes. The AWD cars already have a significant advantage on faster courses, where their significant horsepower advantage can be utilized. Our only chance to catch them is on the slower, tighter courses where our lower weight and wider wheels and tires tip the scales in our favor. If we diminish our tire advantage, we’ll stand no chance against the Evo’s and STI’s.

14.12 is the STX section. This amounts to an increase for 2WD cars. STU would be unaffected.

actually the M3 is likely to go through for 2009 IMO

I didn't read the OP clearly and thought it was on something more relevant that hasn't come out yet
