Shift points and Launch RPM

I'm sure this has been asked before but, I was wondering what the everyone seems to think ar the best shift points on the strip. Also what is the recommended launch RPM. I was at the local 1/8 mile track tonight, i only got to do two runs being my first every on a drag strip, I do more road racing. Anyway My first time was horrible: slow reaction time of .756 and I was shifting mid range beacause I wasn't paying much attention, wheel hopped like 8 times for alomost 5 feet. Second time r/t .330, launched about 2500 rpm only a little wheel hop, took it through to 9000 rpms on each gear. This is the wierd thing I got not only a slower 1/8 mi time I got slower 60' and slower 330' times. I hope to get out htere saturday, if Frances isn't baring down on us, and do more test & tune, but tonight was "the Big Dog Shootout" so we only got to go during breaks. My times weren't great but that probally has alot to do with it being my first time but it waas a little embarassing in front of all these people chanting "rotary" then not give thenm the show they wanted. Any advice or explanation?
