I was watching scc racing yesterday on t.v and 80%of the field was miata's .why does't anyone race the 8's ?

Those Speed Channel broadcasts of the "Runoffs" are by car class. I think the one you saw was Showroom Stock B (SSB) class. The SCCA put the RX-8 in Touring 2 (T2) for 2004 where it has not been competitive. Next year they are creating a new Touring 3 (T3) class where some of the slower T2 cars (RX-8 included) will have a better chance of competing. The T3 class will inclde the Z4, RX-8, WRX Mazda 6, Mustang, Audi TT, MS Miata, and other similarly performing cars. T3 will only be a regional class for 2005 with National status in 2006 so don't expect to see the RX-8 in the runoffs in 2005 unless they run in T2. Hope that made sense.
