RX-8 AST/Moton length

To those who have used these or are using them, do you by any chance know the overall length of these? I might have a chance to buy some, the only issue is that they need to be within ±1 of the fully extended length of the OEM shock. I know a few of you have used these!

I don't know about moton's specifically, but the current MCS equivalent are too short for B-Street. The overall length is about 2" shorter than normal.

I will give them a call and see if maybe we can go about lengthening them. I am getting a killer deal on them - these were originally on Isley's STX car, of which most of the parts are now on Steve O'Blenes STX car.

I went down that path, and decided to punt - though the effort to make them work is probably worth it.

Currently I am working on building a bilstein bodied, penske compression reservoir, hybrid shock that I think could work very well for street, and come in well under the cost of a used set of MCS/MOTONs, but of course without the rebound adjustment.

You should just skip the extra fluff and build a simple non-adjustable. Heading there myself ...

That's what I hear. David's been telling me about your little project. I'm definitely interested. The reason I'm interested in the compression adjustment is that I'm in street, and being able to have easily adjust the balance is important to me.

What are you doing to shorten the shocks? running non-model specific versions?

Will verify it this weekend, but it appears that the NC MX5 shocks will pretty much get me where I need to be. Pretty sure the rear NC is outside the 1" rule though. If your goal is to meet the 1" rule then finding a set of used/blown Bilstein OE RX8 crimp top shocks is likely your cheapest option. For the S1 they only came on the Shinka model and I think the R3 on the S2. Haven't inspected a set yet, just guesstimating based on what is typical for getting below the crimp section.
