What do you want to know? I know John Condren, the CEO of the Riverside Motorsport Park, from discussions we've been having with him and his group relative to autocross sites at the intended new development and also at Altamont, a raceway they bought a little over a year ago (infamous for being the site of the Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter event and movie) which is quite a bit closer to the SF Bay area.

Just interested. It looks like a huge undertaking...but the track layout looks nice.

Hope it happens like they envision...I think it's close enough to drive to a WE HPDE event

Well, they just got over a huge hurdle, getting approval from the Board of Supervisors. There is going to be some litigation before they break ground, I'd bet, with the Foster Farms family over environmental, but all those issues have already been brought to light, discussed and decided, so that may be more a stalling process than a deal breaker.

Funding is in place and, your right, it ain't a cheap project. Also, the development is going to be in stages, as you would expect. For the county, it should be a good situation, as the park will create many jobs (particularly during development) and, ultimately, big tax dollars and revenues related to the facility's usage.

There's huge support for the project, from racers (they're shutting down the last of the area paved ovals, Stockton 99 Raceway, this year and the rest are all pretty much gone, except the other RMP property at Altamont), politicians (more tax dollars and jobs in an economically slow county) and the general public, so it should fly!

Any Idea what they are building first...Oval probably ...Damn Nascar

I guess we shouldn't complain...the Nascar stuff is economically what drives motorsports in the US!

I'm not sure what is going to be built first, but I'll ask Condren next time I speak with him...I'm kind of curious, now.

It probably will be the oval or the drag strip, because SCCA and road racers have Thunderhill, Sears Point and Laguna that they are running at currently...although, with the take over of Sears and Laguna, dates are hard to come by and $$$$$$.
