racing + spacers?
i dont exactly know why, but for some reason i feel like it wouldnt be safe to race and use wheel spacers. is this mere paranoia or is there reason? i only autox local events nothing too crazy.
also wondering, will i need longer studs regardless of the spacer width? if not, how big of a spacer could i use safely without also needing to change out the studs?
finally, how might handling be affected if i only run spacers in the front? i would imagine that widening the front track would affect handling at least in theory. whether i will be able to feel the difference is a different story of course.
thanks!

I've always been leery of spacers, mostly because of concerns with the direct shear force on the stud, if there's any movement of an ill fitting spacer...but, I've seen plenty of very well prepped Porsches and others run spacers with no problems. Of course, those spacers are very well made pieces, to very close tolerances, including hub centricity...and, yes, you would have to replace studs, to allow enough thread engagement of the lug nuts.
If you just did the front, all other things being equal, you would get more grip in the front, afaik.
I'll wait for Team to give the correct answer, now

I have H&R 25mm spacers on the front of my 8 and have tracked it many times w/out any problems. These spacers actually bolt onto the hub and then the wheel bolts onto the spacer using a diff set of studs. They are very good quality and I would deffinatly recomend them to anyone else

The worst that could happen is your wheel falls off, which I have seen.
Championships have also been won driving with well-designed spacers.
Get the details right, and you're fine.
In the range between 5-15mm, you need to be very careful to maintain sufficient mechanical integrity of the spacer itself as well as sufficient engagement of hub centering features between the hub, spacer and wheel. Above and below that is less tricky.
