Racing Brake Big Brake Kit Review

I recently upgraded to the new Racing Brake Big Brake Kit and two piece rotors. I was having some issues with my brakes all last season and thought it was finally time for an upgrade, and was I glad I did! The calipers and lightweight two piece rotors save a total of 25 lbs, and paired with the XT910 pads this thing stops on a dime now.

The kit bolts on directly and no modification is required to fit the caliper or rotors, and it only takes about 20 minutes to install each side.

I wanted to wait until after I had a few races under my belt this season to give my full review. The only changes I have made from last season are this BBK, and an OSGiken Superlock LSD. The first event of the season I took fastest time of the day by 3 seconds out of over 150 competitors. The initial bite of the brakes felt better than any other brake system I have tried.

This past weekend I was in Cecil GA for the 2015 TireRack SCCA Dixie National Tour. I was in the first run group so the temps were just below 60, but the brakes had no issue stopping the car when I needed them too. I ended up taking the win in DSP by 2.5 seconds over the course of 2 days, and finished 10th overall in pax out of 280 drivers for Sunday(Saturday the first group ran in the wet, where the other 4 groups ran in the dry).

Overall I am very impressed with the new brake kit, and I would definitely buy it again!

For those interested, here's a link to the exact kit I am running.

Real nice kit, glad you are putting it to good use (unlike me and my BBK, ).

I've had mine for years...and have had great results. I'm not sure what they use for the Cast iron on the rotors...but it has been by far the best that I have ever dealt with.

What are you using for pads?

congrats for the Dixie Tour win, though I'm sure you would have liked to have PAX'd better ...

Hey Mark!

Yeah I remember your review, that was for the old version though. New one is better!

And thanks, running in the rain/oil was no fun when everyone else had dry runs, I was happy with 10th in PAX Sunday, but possibly could have moved up to a top 5 pax if I had run in the afternoon.

Since I do more autocross than track days I went with the XT910. Takes less heat to get them working right which is what I was looking for.

yes there have been several versions since then, including me selling that particular original version, buying another revised kit several years later, and then having already updated it to the latest spec

I never miss a at PAX results, saw they were posted without any site condition references

RacingBrake is a great company. Warren has always taken great care of me. Heard his son left to work somewhere else though. That's too bad.
