racing around Torrance, CA
i recieved a job offer over the summer which would require me to relocate to Torrance, CA. not sure if i'll take it yet, im thinking about the costs to ship my car, finding a place to stay, etc. but part of my motivation for going is having more opportunity to race. here in hawaii we have autox and thats about it. furthermore, we dont have racing in the summer because of the state fair which happens on the parking lot we race in.
anyway, i was wondering since i dont know cali very well, if i could ask for some help. if i move up there, i wanna be able to race as much as i can in the short time that ill be there. i guess that means like any track days that are open to the public and not too far away, scca solo ii as well (which i do here), any possibilities id really appreciate.
thanks!

Sup man..first of all it's spelled Torrance. haha anyway..there are a ton of different types of racing you can get into. Auto X, track days etc. I havent had the time to do it as of yet but there are a bunch of so calers that do it frequently. Hopefully they can post in this thread. BTW, what company offered you a job if u dont mind me asking..

There's a Divisional event at El Toro air base in July, plenty of local events, you can go down and run in San Diego as well

cool thats a good amount of events, are they open to anyone? is it feasible to drive so far for just a weekend? i have no idea, being in hawaii, i could probably drive around the island twice in less time so it sounds pretty crazy to me lol

Everything is an hour. Cal Club events at California Speedway or El Toro are both easy drives. San Diego is about 1 1/2 hour south of El Toro, but can still be done as a day trip. If you want to travel, Las Vegas and AZ are about 5-6 hours, and 6-7 hours to the north you can find Norcal events. Lots to do. The only bad part is no off season.

haha i think lv or az might be a bit too far but i will certainly consider going down to SD. will i get to meet you guys?
are all those events autox style? hoping to also drive a road course or more. any track days in the summer?

I recommend SpeedVentures or RedlineTrackEvents for track days. I've had 2 track events with SpeedVentures (Streets of Willow, Horsethief Mile in Rosamond, CA) and they were a blast!
