Raced at Atco today... EDIT Timeslips posted

60' 2.3 (bleh!)
1/4 14.83
MPH 94.2

My first run I got a nice pretty CEL, went into limp mode and wouldn't let me rev above 8500rpm - weird. It did it again on the second run so I stopped and turned the car off for a while. The car ran fine the rest of the runs.

I tried a few different launches and got the best run by doing a 4000rpm clutch slip. Obviously my 60' time sucks but it was on the stock tires at 32 psi.

I'll go again after I install my CZ1 which should be here soon.

Any ideas on what triggered the CEL?

Did you do a burnout before your run? By the way, I think that may be the fastest run for anyone other than Ito. Atco is a good track for fast runs for some reason

The first run I did about a 2-3 burnout without any wheel hop. Maybe bouncing off the rev limiter caused the CEL?

I was less aggressive on the launch that Ito since I wanted to keep my gearbox in one piece. :D If I could cut .2 off the 60' thenthe ET should drop to a 14.5 - 14.6. Next time I'll drop the tire pressure.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, it seems like the fastest runs have higher 60' times. I wonder what ever happened to Ito, and if he really did make that run... Seems odd that he cut a 9+ second 1/8 mile with a 2.4 60' and managed a 14.3, had video and slips, but went poof without ever posting them.

Yes, your burnout may have caused a temporary limp mode or something to not go right and caused the cell.

I should go once more before I get the CZ1 but this time drop the tire pressure to 25psi.

Yeah, it would probably give you a better baseline just in case you're able to get a little more out of it

In case anyone cares the 12.7 was done by a new Ford Lightning, modded of course, with the license plate BLWNTRK.

I think he disappeared when all the **** people on the forum were bashing him for doing a burnout and posting the video in his car with only 2000 miles. Then when he posted that he blew the motor, tranny and stuff, their was more flames torwards him....I don't blame him for leaving, he was just trying to get the most out of the RX8. He's basically using it as as R&D to make it better and all these image conscious whiners did was give him grief for it....

Hey Voodoo, I personally know them and have seen what they can do with rotaries. It's bad that they(and I) are loose easy going guys that don't care what "mature" people think?

Lighten up.....

haha. i'm allowed to have some fun. i know a little but judge ito knows more than most people on here will ever know. believe what you want. my site is exactly that. MY SITE. i can put whatever i want on it. me drunken wrestling.... whatever i so choose. have i ever tried to sell anything? have i ever tried to influence anyone? what you see on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt. there is so much misinformation that believe because it was posted on an internet forum. what does that have to do with me racing a car ? or ito ? i have absolutely nothing to gain. i just wanted to see if anyone came close to his time that is the only reason i am back. anyway enjoy my video's while you can

Because he was the other car that ran the 14.8, which was why he made the thread in the first place :p

My car number was 202. The 16 was done by a Lexus IS.

EDIT: The 12.7 wasn't mine either. :D :D

Not that I'm counting being young against them (as I'm relatively young compared to you grand dad's on here.. hehehe j/k), anyway back on point. They were into hot ******* and running their cars hard, had sophomoric videos of them actually beating each other up ala "Fight Club" and so on. Other aspects a find "odd" was their post of the 198 rwhp dyno. I've been present to a few actual dyno's and have read other peoples posts on the subject and I have never seen anybody come close to that figure on a "stock" car. Canzoomer is the only one, using his piggyback, that has been able to hit the figure from what I am aware.

In general those guys had wishy washy attitude about information exchange especially when they would post such titillating information.

BTW, that judge ito burnout was awesome!!!
Dude i'm not a very young guy like you claim. Vosko may be, but I'm a bit older. I cater specifically to mazda rotary powered vehicles at my shop. Hence the name"J.R.'s Rotary Performance Shop" I haven't had the time to come online and share more info on my personal experiences with my Rx8 because I decided not to race the car anymore. I run a one man rotary engine shop. Many a times I don't have the time to visit the 4 rotary engine websites(one I'm a moderator in) and keep bringing updated info. on my car.

Dude I've never been to a fight club plus there is no video of my face online.. Burnout videos yes, but no actual video of me personally. Vosko yes but not me. No big deal anyway. Soon Rx tuner will have a layout on me and my shop with my Mazda Rx3 Drag Racing N/A beast.

I'm a nitrous oxide freak and if the Rx8's drive train would have held up to my abuse I was going to port and polish the engine then give it a nice 145 N20 shot. But I learn the hard way that the Rx8, is no Rx7 3rd gen.
The point of this was to try to get folks back on topic. If you read my posts I never said anything negative about you.
