Quick STX Autocross question

I have been reading thought the rules about what you can do in the STX class.

I need to replace my clutch so I was thinking about getting a stage 1 or 2 Exedy clutch and lightweight flywheel.

Would that be legal in STX?

It says "any metal clutch " no
I cannot find anything on the flywheel

No. Only OE or OE equivalent are legal (clutches & flywheels).

If you do that upgrade, you'll be bumped to Street Prepared.

The stock clutch is perfectly fine for STX power levels and will last a really long time. It's probably just as cheap, if not cheaper, than the Exedy options anyway. Make sure you register with Mazda Motorsports to save some money.

It sucks even more for Evo owners whose stock clutches are crap. Trust me, it isn't that bad for RX-8 drivers.

+1 I have 4 seasons of autocross on my original clutch and it's still holding up extremely well (two seasons I had a co-driver, one season I had 2 co-drivers).

Definitely register with Mazda Motorsports. Great folks to work with, excellent prices.

To be honest I have had no problems with the stock clutch. I guess I was more excited about a lighter flywheel. Oh well I'll save the money and put it towards some coil overs

The Exedy Stage 1 is a legal OE replacement. If you shop wisely it will cost less than a factory clutch, even if purchased through Motorsports.

OK I'll take your word that it is a legal replacement. Do you think it would be a better option the standard clutch?
