That actually sounds better than the numbers that were first quoted.

Thank You!
Will do.

My plan is to take ride height measurements after I've got a couple hundred miles on the car to allow for settling. I'll have comparison numbers against Koni/RB springs (what is currently on my car) plus I intend to measure a couple of local Koni/OEM B Stock cars for comparison.

Once the springs are settled I'll have the car realigned. Hope to be able to report front and rear camber adjustment range with these springs, along with "before" measurements on my car with both stock springs and the RB springs for comparison, since every car is different.

I'll be providing my personal subjective feedback, some lap time comparisons at MSR, plus some feedback and PAX results from Texas Region and Southwest Divisional events. Obviously this won't all happen overnight, but I think by the end of July I should have some pretty good feedback to offer, including track and autocross impressions.

Any other suggestions for feedback that you guys can think of?

Iain,

This sounds excellent. I'm especially interested in seeing what front & rear camber adjustments you can get with these springs.

Some before & after pics of your car at the track/autocross would be nice also.

Will we be able to request a lower drop on the progress springs? I know this maybe asking too much, but I'm just wondering because I like the spring rates... BTW who knows... they might actually look nice with the current height rating. Just gotta see some pics first!

Nope, not unless the majority votes to go that way. I can make it happen if you want to purchase 50 sets of desired height and such

Brice,

Quick question about the ride height drop. When looking over aftemarket springs available for the RX-8, I see that some drop the car evenly (Mazdaspeed, RacingBeat, etc) while others like these new Progress springs drop the front slightly more than the rear (Tein S-Tech & H-tech, Eibach Pro, Tanabe, etc).

Is there a benefit of dropping the front of the RX-8 slightly more than the rear? Will this leave a slight rake?

Thanks!

-Chike

this is not aimed at me, but i am going to comment.

this is a quote from a owner of a koni challenge rx8 team owner.

the car likes a bit of rake in it!

yep, that is what he said.

My car needs more front drop than rear. Even with the koni's, my car looks like it has the AWD option in the front. I am thinking that the proposed drop is going to even things out on my car. Not sure I will have much of a rake at all, but I am excited to find out. Hopefully, those prototype springs are cooling off right now getting ready for shipment.

Thanks swoope. That's exactly what I was looking to hear. I wanted to be sure there was a performance benefit to this rake, and it wasn't just for aesthetics.

The greater wheel gap in the front makes it look that way, but the car is still level. So these springs will add ~0.3" (7.5mm) of rake to the car.

I am looking forward to getting the springs.

At this point, my car is a basic B-stock RX8. I recorded some baseline MaxQ data at a local "autocross" event, which was held at a go-kart course. The benefit to this approach is that the course will be exactly the same for pre and post-spring tests. There are disadvantages I am sure. I am hoping that the weather will be comparable for both tests day, but no way to guarantee that.

I will make no changes to the car except for the springs. After getting some post-springs laps recorded, I am going to also record some after a switch from my current street tires to my pending STX setup (255 shaved star specs and 17x9 rims).

At any rate, I am looking forward to getting the springs. I will document the before and after ride height, installation of the springs, and then the performance improvement. Any other things people are looking for, please let me know.

I'm very interested in any camber gain after installing the springs. I'm hoping I'll be able to get enough camber so that I won't need to get the competition A-arms with the offset bushings. I'm hoping to get -2.5. Currently I can get just under -2.0 on my B-stock car. Ride height pics before and after would be nice, along with some pics of the new springs put side-by-side with the stock springs during the install.

P.S. If you're still a prototype tester, I guess that means altiain backed out?
