Saturday results are up: Day 1 Results

Harvey is leading, but it looks like the 3rd place Neal Tovsen coned away a run that would have given him a 1.5 second lead! Everyone in the trophies is definitely close enough to be in the hunt for the top spot tomorrow.

Based on some relative times, I'm going to guess there was a weather issue in Heat 2...maybe a quick shower and drying course or something similar...also, the "1.5" faster run is a reporting error, I'd guess, looking at the results...his third run's scratch (the plus one you're using to calculate a theoretical smokin' fast time) is also reported as his quickest final net...either he didn't hit a cone or they just have it all messed up.

Anyhoo, keep it going Chris, good job!

Looks like there has to be some type of weather issue.

Umm, yeah... A 50.3 with a cone is still quicker than his other two runs. Where is the problem?

Still, the guy picks up 4 seconds on his last run, ex the cone? Interesting, that's pretty wild...I wonder what the story is?

The results seem to support a drying course in which 2nd drievrs had an advantage. Based on car numbers, Tovsen would have been last out and should have had the 'driest' conditions.

The results in H-Stock (which also ran in heat 2) seem to support this. 2nd driver D. Scott Bourne has a 1.1 second lead over the current national champ Jack Burns.

True, but Chris would have gone out just in front (189 car followed by 199 car). Another interesting point, the co-driver of the 199 car is in 2nd place...even running the 99 number (first driver), which is quite an accomplishment if, indeed, it was a drying course condition...unless maybe reruns came into play?

Regardless, the guys from MN done good and it looks like there are some good battles in a number of classes

Yep... rain came down for the first runs (2nd heat). I think we were the only ones to test out the wet tires for our first runs. Radar showed that the precip wouldn't last... but why not use 'em if you got 'em. Changed to A6's for the second runs, partial to mostly drying course by the third runs. I pushed big time in a couple spots when I got a tire off the dry line (kinda like Topeka... clean line wasn't the ideal line, and it bit me). Neal really went for it on his final run, but got the cone.

Tomorrows course looks faster, and heavier in transitional elements. Hope the weather is better!

Cool, no reruns, just some good driving without the advantage of running in the best conditions in class...nice job, Ivan.

Best of luck to you, Neal, Chris and the rest of BS tomorrow. I hope you don't have to try those wets, again!

Had a blast. Cool bunch of folks in B-stock. Glad to meet everyone.
Kind of a heart-breaker on Sunday.. course worker couldn't get out of the way in time on my 3rd run. Had to take my re-run as it was getting damp, still my fastest of the day. Neal's final run got pushed well into the rain.

Chris H. was fast and consistent, sounded like he got the Pace Trailer award to show for it. He had us all covered before the third runs, regardless. Nice driving!
Looking forward to Milwaukee.

It was great to meet you, Neal, J.T., Karl, Eric and all of the rest of the B-stock & BSL group. Lots of new faces for me to remember ! Unfortunately, the weather impacted us both days and Neal really got "hosed" on his last run. The changing course conditions on Saturday and threatening weather on Sunday, made every run critical. Hopefully, Milwaukee will be rain free !

I thought the event overall was run well and the course designs were decent given the limitations of the site. The whole first half of the Sunday course was a blast, wheelspin at 50+ MPH in an RX8...crazy.

Great driving ... looking forward to Toledo this weekend and meeting some more new B-stockers.

I thought it was a great group in BS as well. I hope that Milwaukee has such a good BS turnout. I hope we have better luck with the weather there too. I am not a mudder and I am starting to think that I never will be. I have had too much practice in the wet already this year. Why couldn't the weather have been so crappy last year when I had my Evo?!

I agree with Chris on the course layout, especially for Saturday. I thought Sunday's course seemed a bit simple even though I had a blast on it. I think that they could have done more with the site but I am sure that the plan was to do something different for Peru.

All the local guys are talking about how fast BS was through the first slalom. I wish that I could see some data on BS vs SS or some of the other HP classes.

I will need to look at the data again, but I don't recall hitting the limiter anywhere. I think the RX-8 was geared just right for this course. Andy Hollis had a radar gun on the first heat, F-stock was in the low 60's at the very end of the first slalom. The average speed of Sunday's course was pretty high which played to B-stocks favor. I thought the Lotus would rock on the Sunday course, not sure why that wasn't the case.

I remember hearing the warning horn honking at me but I never hit the limiter either. I never really felt like I hit it quite right though either. It felt a little awkward to me, like there were mini straights between the turns. I would like to have played with it some more, especially if I had a data logger.

Tucker and Chris H., was there any consensus on tires, brands or size?

I was on 285/30R18 A6. My opinion has not changed, the V710 and A6 are within 2-3 tenths of each other on any given course (245/285/295). Driver preference/style and tire condition will have a bigger impact on times. Pick one and work at optimizing it for your set-up.

That was a fun weekend! Travel time was a really Bitch! but whatever...

Definitely had bad luck on saturday, being the first run out in the run group after a little shower, then it starting to spritz a bit after the first set of runs. I moved from last place to first place on my third run, until the audit revealed that i hit a pointless cone right at the beginning...bugger! then the continually drying track and some great driving by others turned some incredible times that day.

Sunday I just couldn't get the hang on to the speeds for the massive slalom, and my mental need to downshift seemed to take over, this cost me some precious time.

That being said our car weighed in at 3015lbs and so we're highly overweight (stock exhaust and GT package). If my TT doesn't sell by the time nationals swings in i may give DS one more kick. till then i'll keep trying to figure out the enigma known to most as a rotary engines powerband.

I would have to agree with Chris, especiall since I have not driven on the Ho ho's yet. I was still on the Kumhos mounted on the SSR's. I think that they may have lost a little grip since I have about 90 runs on them but I figured that Peru would provide grip no matter what was on the car.

I wish I had time to get a set of Ho-ho's for the car and play with them before Milwaukee. There aren't any more events other than TSSCC at MGA. I don't think the surface there will tell me anything about the tires other than they don't like driving on marbles. So I guess that I will be on the Kumhos/Rota's for Milwaukee.

Well, I hope to see you in BS in Topeka. Bartek has jumped from DS to CS. You wouldn't want to win like that, would you? Wouldn't you prefer the competition of BS?

LOL. Win like what? Just b/c Bartek is out of DS doesn't mean JT is a shoe-in for the top spot if he runs his Audi.

There's a certain person from NC whose been stupid fast in his recently acquired Type-R and is consistently beating Aaron Buckley (who finished 4th last year in DS) and winning just about every national event he enters (only loss was to lost to Mark Smith at the Arkansas Pro). He's also my pick to take the DS title this year at Solo Nats.
