I’m not a good driver and am sure you’ll crush me. I get more enjoyment tinkering to explore the limits and playing the mad engineer/fabricator than anything else. Just keep doing the thing you enjoy and I’ll do the same
I got a good deal on a complete, used AiM setup 5 years ago and am just getting around to installing it. They released newer versions over the last year or two, but it’s good enough for my purposes and it makes sense to use it rather than buy something else now.

Part of the fun of SP is that it is both a builder's class and a drivers class. It is possible to outbuild your competitors, to some degree, but the top of the classes will always require both driving talent and a certain level of prep.
I for one am seriously enjoying the mods you are doing - very impressive work. I wish we had the time to do the same, but we are in the middle of renovating our house this winter (finishing a porch, the basement, AND adding a master bath), so the car will most likely just get minimal work done. I fully expect a bunch of you guys to catch up to us next season

It's nice to have a zero excuse car... for better or worse.

I mean, the discount goes through the 30th... They are not the lightest wheels, my 18x11 BMW wheels are 23lbs, but they look good and they don't flex like the old CCWs used to.

I was referring to the Strano deal. The BF special is $200/wheelset. It sounds like you got something better though even that BF discounted price is decent.
If that’s the mustang version then Vorschlag states 22.8# each, not bad for the size really. They list them at $1500/set, so looks like $1300./set with the BF sale. Tempting ... though I probably should sell the one of the five or six other sets first

He has really good pricing on Penske dampers right now but I am so far away from having the thing back on the ground that I decided to pass for the time being.

Rear brakes are sitting on hold; they shipped the wrong piston size somehow so I’m stuck waiting on the correct replacement calipers to arrive.
Built the PnP extension harness and remote mounted the intake valve solenoid/vacuum tank assembly next to the RH shock tower. Also color coded the wiring sleeves and silicone vacuum hoses to match the solenoid connector colors (SSV - white, VDI - black) to avoid mixing them up The harness will go inside a heatshield sheathing sleeve to keep it neat and protected.

We did our annual compression test yesterday. No doritos have ran away after another season of autocrossing (2 years since motor rebuild). No more than 5psi spread, peak of ~128psi.

Because part of my intake mod was to delete the UIM underbody section, which is the oil sump fill/breather assembly. The solenoid tank is part of that though, so I cut that off and remote mounted it. This frees up access and airflow between the top of the engine and the intake manifold. It also makes accessing the intake valve solenoids a lot easier as well as UIM removal/installation.
This is the UIM with it as supplied by the factory:
And this is the UIM with the oil galley/solenoid tank assy. unbolted and removed from it:
Which I also cut off and removed the purge valve tank you see on the inside bend as well as anything else that’s not essential for min weight and just to be simpler/cleaner. I also modifed the bend section from the TB flange to the middle of the UIM body to change it from a 112* elbow to a 90* elbow so that the MAF tube from the TB to the CAI opening in the front shroud is straight without any bends.
In the bottom pic you can see how the TB flange is angled back towards the right as compared to the front surface of the purge solenoid tank on the inside bend. On mine the TB flange is parallel to that surface without the extra bend at the end. You have to go back and look at the other pics to put it all together, but I may post up some side-side pics later of factory vs modifed to make it clearer.

Turned out better than I had hoped. Thought that I might need to keep a pair of hose clamps on it to be safe, but it’s solid as is. I still intend to have a support for the TB end off of the oil sump vent/fill tube similar to the OE design though. The TB is too heavy to be hanging out there cantilever-style on it’s own. Most of the weight seems to be from the electronic drive motor, but I don’t want to give that up for a throttle cable TB.

I meant standalone ECU replacement and cable throttle. I've got a Megasquirt and cable throttle on the Dsp car and love it. Full CAN bus functionality. Planning on the same with the SM car.

That’s what the new modular Adaptronic ecu is, but you don’t need a cable throttle because it already has a DBW module built in with the factory settings, which are also adjustable. I think there’d be a lot less monkeying around with it, but it sounds like your mind was already made up before discussing it.
