If I personally had to buy a car for this class, I'd get a late model 986 Boxster with the 225hp, 2.7L engine. It'll be competitive in solo, and the car to have in Pro Solo.

as far as solo, i think there will be a good amount of course dependency in CS. i think the Z0K and the Z will have an advantage on sweeper-intensive courses with their big rubber, and the MS-R and RX-8 will have an advantage on runway/transition-heavy courses b/c of their weight advantage. the Z will probably scoot out of slow corners better than the rest. the Boxster seems like it will be good all-around but like the 8, maybe not the best at any one thing.
whether that ends up being the best or worst of all worlds remains to be seen, i guess.
i think this class will be pretty interesting; no one really knows how things will shake out. most decisions right now seem to be being made based on perception. no one knows how fast the Z really is; no one knows if the RX-8 can get faster or by how much. no one knows how the Boxster, MS-R, and Solstice really match up head-to-head w/ the Z and 8.
