nice take off here!

im trying to disect this take off. Its really nice. Tell me what you think

1st gear brings it up to 6k with the ebrake on??? then launches with minimal spin - feathers the clutch and gas and shifts at 9.5k @ 66 km/h (41.01 mph)

2nd gear catches with no tire spin and only drops down to 6.2k and again brings it up to 9.5k @ 111 km/h (68.9 mph)

3rd gear only drops to 7k and climbs very fast topping out for a total of 9k @ 148 km/h (91.9 mp/h)

wow...

i do that everytime i get in the rx8

all you gotta do is let the rpms up - and opo that clutch at 9500 thru every gear - its a high rpm engine - let it wind out - thats why we got the rx8

It looks to me like that speedometer is reading in km/h, not miles.

the 0-60 time is 5.6 in the video... wouldn't it be faster if it were on stands?

LOL, perhaps the wind-noise or the fact that you can see the reflection of street-lights going across the dash and then around the end of the video (18 seconds) actually see him pass by some signs through the small portion of the windshield in the video...

yet he never went past 6500 in 1st gear and ran a 0-60 mph time on OE tires that would smoke most people on drag slicks, didn't even spin the tires in the upper gears despite the tach swinging at mach speed .... if you say so

You can clearly hear the tires scuffing the asphalt as he launches and then again as he hits 2nd gear... It also clearly shows lights and signs passing by the windshield near the end of the video...

But then again, MAYBE he just put the car on jackstands and made the scuffing noise with his mouth when he launched and hit 2nd... And then increased the speed of a fan onto the microphone as he picked up speed and then decreased it as he slowed down... All this with a TV on the hood of his car playing a video of lights and signs passing by, shot from the interior of another vehicle on the freeway...

I'm not saying the car is stock like the owner in the video claims... But it's quite obvious the car isn't on jackstands... If anything I think the video was altered to play faster than it was when originally recorded...

I had my sound turned off, so I suppose it's possible to blow the tires away and indicate a speed on the dash that isn't matched by the actual vehicle speed
