It was nice seeing the bagged one again and meeting CRX today. Tough to really learn much about my setup, given the conditions, but it felt like I could get either end to do what I wanted pretty much, which is a good thing. I coned my first two runs, including a pretty good scratch on run two, so had to back it down on my last run and just try to get one in the bank. Fortunately, it was enough to nip the field. Probably left at least .7-.8 on the table, as my second coned run was .2 faster on scratch than my only clean run, and that was with a big mistake at the finish.

All in all, a fun day. The rain held off and the car felt pretty good

I think CRX was just trying to show off for his fiance, next time he won't be taking it so easy on us

We will see about that next Sunday, if I can get my head out of my behind. I swear that the rear-end was possessed today

We should see at least another 3 RX8's (plus the ones we saw today), 1 or 2 MR2T's (including ES National Champ Bryan Heitcotter's ex-BS Nationals winning car), and a few 350Z's...we may have a 12-15 car class at many events, this year. BS in SFR is looking good

I wouldn't worry too much about today. First event in a new region, in wet conditions, is enough to make anyone spin. The guy who surprised me was baghead...he looked super smooth and fast, much better than ULLLLLLOSE led me to believe he was

disclaimer: ULLLOSE never said anything to me about Team's driving...I'm just messing around!

That's a good one.

I use to think you were fast, took out the SS natl champ at your first ever tour, I guess that was beginners luck. Glad to hear you took out the bag head, but if only by a tenth you will just be class filler for us in SD.

Let the 2007 trash talking begin.

considering the course wasn't dry when we ran, we did fairly decent overall

the garbagemen are coming to San Diego in 6 weeks to clean the place up

Yep, the course really came in for the afternoon groups, with the sun and rubber, so our overall isn't too bad.
Even with the water and "rivers" across a few turns, I still think we should have been about .5-.7 faster, I'm sure ULLLLLLLLLLLOSE would have been at least 2 seconds faster than mwood

As far as San Diego, top 5 is all I'm aspiring to...

He IS super smooth, riding with him on that first run reminds me of how far I have to go to keep from upsetting the car. Oh, and as far as trash-talking -- too bad I had that spin on my last run, which was probably due to the blown rear shock (yeah right), cuz you guys might've had something to worry about if I had finished that run!

How many runs would you say are on those tires? Might be time for new(er) tread?
Anyway, it was great to meet the SFR crew, and I had a boatload of fun. Plus, this was the first time I've ever autox'd before April, yipee!

Thank you for asking. I had the sneaking suspicion that the tires had reached their usefulness limit, since they were hard as rock to the touch on Sunday. Just did a quick check and found the followings:

Bought used in '06 with 35 asphalt runs on E46 M3 in AS (3 tires) and remaining one thru one race day in SCCA-T2 on 350Z
I put on 58 runs on RX-8 following that

I see new V710 in my near future

PS: The sound reading results just got released, here are the dB@50ft for you & baghead:

188BS: 95/94/93
88 BS: 92/93

That's cutting the 93dB limit very close.

You know, that's exactly what I was thinking...

All trash talk aside, it was good to see you and baggy and we hope to see you guys at more SFR events. You coming down the hill for Candlestick, this weekend?

that sounds about right since I was figuring about 1.5 sec for myself having taken it easy after coning the first two runs

Yep, your math is good, you should beat me by at least .75, seeing as I have the wrong tires and all...not to mention your superior driving sKilZ.

we'll see how you do with 2 drivers on a hot, dry surface soon enough

Good call. There's no way of knowing...but, I have a strong suspicion I left a fair amount out there...like always...

It will be more telling when the Hoosiers get over 80 degrees surface temp, won't it?

Next weekend should be helpful, forecasted warmer and dry, and 50 plus second laps at the 'Stick. I'll also have a co-driver to get things toasty. I'm curious to see how the car works
