Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all the racers

Hope Santa brings you all the parts and mAd sKIlz needed to make 2007 a successful season

Now, if the elves could only come up with a sub 17lbs. wheel for under $2000/set...

Can't wait for '07 season to start. There will be fierce competition in SFR with MR2 and mwood swapping leads. My 18.2lb Motoforge should be arriving in time with fresh V710 for Atwater and SD Tours.

In light of Christmas spirit, I hope I get to ride along in mwood's RX-8
Looks like 1/28 Oakland (tentative) is the earliest event from now. I'm new to SFR and hope to meet fellow RX-8 autoxers. It looks like SA2000 helmet is required starting 1/1/07 as mandated by SFR, guess my SA95 is out of luck...

CRX, have we met, yet? I know I've met a couple of new RX8 drivers, what's your real name? Anyhow, looking forward to seeing you at our local events

What's the deal with Motoforge? Are they still making wheels or what? Also, they are pretty expensive, right? Still, nice looking wheels and seem to be of very good quality.

1/28 we should be good to go at the Oakland Coliseum...see you there!

Not yet, but soon, just introduced myself on baautox.com. I knew of your great driving from National results. Would be great to get critique/feedback from you.

The last I checked, Motoforge is no longer in production. Expensive when new, but deals to be had if bought used. That is what I did after looking for almost a year. edj also runs Motoforge. I actually thought that you scooped up 2 sets of Enkei in classifieds, guess not. The new OZ looks great, much better than Ultra. Hope that works out for you.

Let me know if there is any event before that with you going. The car will be unloaded from car transporter in early Jan/07.

Well, welcome to the SF Region, then!

Not much to learn from me, I used to run in an easy class, with an easy car to drive and got lucky a couple of times...I'm still a noob, just finishing my second year of autocrossing. If Bryan brings out his MR2T consistently, 2007 could be a very long year...when I'm not getting my butt kicked by Jason, Joe and others at the National events, he'll be schooling me locally

DKNV and I are planning to attend the 1/28 event pending the weather forecast as we get closer. Hopefully we won't break the bank on the dB sound meter ...

No sound test at Oakland Coliseum.

Look forward to seeing you two, it should be a fun event. The surface at Oakland was reslurried not too long ago, fwiw...

I think BS could be over 10 cars, easy. Hopefully Bryan Heitcotter brings out his new/ex-Derek Butts MR2T, also.

We'll be in DKNV's BS RX-8, not my STU car. We only have the OE seat belt for restraint, using the lock & slide method.

I haven't done anything for restraint yet in the STU car either, but at some later time will likely install a harness. Getting the Recaro seats installed in it is at the top of my priority list and I won't do the harness until after they're in.

Looks like our right rear Koni shock may be blown; oil and clanking noise, but we can't get it repaired in time so we'll do our best to limp along for this event

I spoke too soon on sound...from our local autox email list and Charlie Davis:

"I'll be monitoring Sound starting at Round 1. Some of this is designed
to make sure we are good neighbors, and some of it is to help those of us
going to the San Diego National Tour to meet their even more stringent sound
requirement.

So, Round 1 will be a "freebie." Warnings will be verbal and unofficial
with respect to SFR's regulations. At Round 2, official warnings will be given
out to those who don't meet SFR's numbers, and the official cycle begins (see
SFR supplemental regulations for details.)"

I'm interested to see what our cars pull on the old DB meter.

we'll only have a mufflerless catback pipe, I think that's the way Joe ran his in SD last year but not entirely sure

I'm sure it's nothing a properly pointed elbow won't fix

Joe ran the stock muffler in SD and ran open at the pro.

I do not think one will pass with just a turn down.

My Z4 only barely failed there several years ago and only because it came out the side of the car with dual pipes pointed right at the dB meter on day 2, IMO it was louder than the RX-8 and I have heard other cars running there that IMO are louder than the RX-8

but worst case we can throw the 13# muffler canister back on if it fails on Friday, and that's not to say changes won't be made between now and then pending further testing to be legal with a minimum performance penalty

Merry Christmas to all!
i'm actually not worried about him so much as david macdougall in his evo rs. my main challenge this offseason is getting all my crap installed before the season begins. g/l in the SFR i'm sure you'll do well and make some noise.

Cool, getting parts installed must had been the reason you skip 1/20 winter event. BS look pretty slim this year, a one-man show by Ken. Hope your coilover is coming along, without the side-affect experiened by bag-head.

1st autox is this Sunday, we'll see if I still remember how to autox after winter hiatus.

Mikey nipped me by about 0.17 sec today on a low 42 sec course, his car looked good on course

course was very open, minimal transistions, still wet in a few spots, low 50s temp, asphalt, I'm not sweating any bullets yet

it was nice to finally meet all the local forum members

Your red RX-8 was a hoot to listen & watch out on the course! Mike looked great on Hoosier, so looks like bucking the trend paid off for him.

This was a day to remember, spin-out on all three runs. Gotta be the fiancee watching and something about performance anxiety

Very nice to meet all of you. Baghead really is a nice guy, off the board at least
