Look in the General Automotive forum section, it was posted last week!

Point of clarification - The 3 rotor engine is for an entry in the American Le Mans Series - that doesn't necessarily mean anything about whether the team will enter a car in the actual Le Mans race in France, as the Le Mans race is not an event on the ALMS calendar.

Regards,
Gordon

ALMS uses the same rules and regulations as the people who regulate the 24hr Le Mans Race. According to the website, teams that regularly run in ALMS can be invited to the main event. Not only that, but the winners of the 24 hr event are usually ALMS regulars in recent years.

So it depends on how the 3-rotor does. Does anyone know how they will classify displacement?

Isn't Rotary powered cars banned for the Le Mans in France? If the American Le Mans have the same rules, why is it allowed now?

Got this from the Road Atlanta site:

Sportsbook.com will be the primary sponsor of the new Mazda Courage entry in the ALMS LM2 division that will debut at Road Atlanta. Sportsbook.com is also the “official online gaming partner” of the ALMS and will sponsor the “Lucky Move of the Race” award at each ALMS event.

“We are delighted to be associated with Sportsbook.com and Mazda,” says Road Atlanta President Geoff Lee. “The Mazda Courage entry will be a big boost to the event and the series, and we are proud to have it debut at Road Atlanta during the Sportsbook.com Grand Prix of Atlanta.

“We are proud that Sportsbook.com has selected Road Atlanta and our spring ALMS event to launch their racing and sponsorship.”

Sportsbook.com is a division of the UK based Sporting bet and is one of the world’s largest Internet gaming companies.

Tickets for the Sportsbook.com Grand Prix of Atlanta are now on sale online at www.roadatlanta.com or

The SCCA Speed World Challenge Series, including both GT and Touring races, will be among the supporting events, along with Star Mazda, the Panoz GT Series and the new IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge.

It is pronounced "La Mon". The letter "s" at the end of any french word is 'silent'.

I took a look at the Road Atlanta site, and they have an article posted about ALMS teams invited to Le Mans. 15 ALMS teams were invited, but the 3 rotor wasn't mentioned.

I bet the rotary is still banned!

I believe that you have to run in the LaPetite LaMans event at Road Atlanta to recieve an invitation to the French event. The new car hasn't even run yet so no invitation.

So is rotary news full of it yet again? Does Rotary news have some affiliation with Mazda, because they sure do seem to spread around whatever nonsense Mazda tells them without checking their sources and the validity of the claims?
