I think someone did a test on a "dyno" and achieved 170mph (273.5kph).

I managed 140mph (225kmh) on the highway but had to slow down, so it can go faster than that.

By comportement he means to ask how it behaves at high speeds if anyone wishes to answer that. I would but I didn't think to test out the top speed on my testdrive :p

I think wait for the German owners to give them a try out over there. No speed limits, anything goes...

I had my first RX-8 at 143 MPH and it seemed stable.

My friend, in 5th. gear at 9,000 rpm. That's our 1 to 1 ration the car goes 147 mph. When you shift to 6th. at 7650, with the .84 ratio the car is electronically limited to 148. My guess would be this speed limitation is based on the tires and their speed rating.

Another issue I might have over looked is I haven't seen anyone concerned about how soft these tires are. i know they corner. But how long will they last?

I read some old threads and people quoted under 20K miles, is that right? Not too hot I think. We already got a handful of folks over 10K so I guess we'll find out soon enough.

That was me on the dyno. Wide open in 6th at 9000RPM was 170MPH. The car is not limited electronicly, it's only drag limited, so a few more ponies under the hood and it will go beyond that.

My fastest that i have driven my 8 was racing a zo6 Vette on my way to MIR and I got it to 159 MPH and it still wanted to go but traffic was getting heavy. I only have a tornado as a Mod.

No I have not but I would like to see some proof as to use of this application. There's quite a bit of discussion already. But I haven't seen anybody prove that it works on the 8.

There's more info on this board than just these two, a search will find more.

Have YOU done the before/after dyno test on the Tornado? If you have, we'd all love to see the dyno plots. If you haven't either... then how do YOU know it's improving anything?

Regards,
Gordon

TRY IT AND YOU WILL SEE. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT CAN POSSIBLY LET ME DYNO THE CAR BUT YOU WILL FEEL A DIFFERENCE JUST TRY IT, AND BY THE WAY YOU CAN ALWAYS CLEAN IT AND RETURN IT. IT IS THE SAME AS A 2000 CAMARO SS

Chief, can you lay off the CAP LOCKS. It's a huge annoyance for anybody that has been on the "internet" for any period of time. It indicates "yelling" and extremely annoying.

As for "*** dyno" and the "try it you'll like it" sounds too much like late night infomercials to me. Definitely express your opinion on the matter (which you have) but if you don't have substantiated proof beyond "*** dyno" then let it go.

Now to offer some points toward your argument, there's a thread that mentions gains on a dyno using a tornado. But the way I read the thread, it may be working as pure "accident" because it is probably slowing down the air flow; the ecu is reading this information and actually reducing the fuel mixer, hence leaning the pig rich settings of the rx-8. Totally by accident and has nothing to do with the tornado's claims of ramming more air. I'm leery of any aftermarket air intake ect.. Simply this car has a lot of electronics and sensors and it's like a dog chasing it's tale, the car will try to electronically compensate given the conditions. I'm waiting for some well documented fixes to performance. So far the only one is canzoomer's which has the best potential but I will not be the 1st one on the block to get one.

EDIT: Here is a good opportunity to get some real info on the Tornado.
