Rotr8.. I'm interested in that same seat (or possible a bride) but I don't have access to any custom metalwork. Is there seat base/slider that I can just buy and do the install without any custom fab?

Also, did you do anything with the airbag electrics?

The brides shown by Brice are very different than the recaro I have. Those particular Brides are fixed back buckets which have side mounts. Bride sells exact-fit mounts and sliders for thier seat(shown in his pics on previous page). The Recaro being a reclinable back has has bottom mount configuration. Alittle harder to source out the parts for. Recaro does sell a slider rail made for thier bottom mount seats. I just happen to have ordered the Sparco, the only adjustment needed was to widen the handle bar. I also ordered the Wedge engineering bracket mount/base upon Rishie's(Endless Rotaries) advice for perfect fitment with the OE holes in the floor.
The best person to talk to is Rishie from Auto R&D here he is Endless Rotaries, for advice. He will point you in the right direction...

Cool.. Thanks man. How do you like the seats so far?
Also considering the Speeds, as they are much cheaper than the Brides/Sportster:

Though the sportsters do look pretty sweet..

The seat is extremly comfortable and firm. It also looks great in the car.
I would be weary of anything that dislaims that "actual product may vary"...

Heh. true. Went out and did some test seating today. Tried out the sportster and the speed and some other seats they had. I think I'm going to go with the speed, I liked the beefier bottom cushion and just can't justify the price of the sportsters.

Anyone have experience with the modacar.com site? They seem to have some good prices on these.

Will talk to Rishie and the wedge people (they are local to me) and see what can be done.

Bride FO sliders i think....idk....side mount bracket made for the zeta III's to fit in our 8's. fit is perfect and opens up headroom and more space if you have people in the back.

***update....i have the FG rails.

http://www.more-japan.com/home.php?cat=335

if you can't order these locally, we can prolly order them at tintmasters for you and ship them directly to you if you don't want to order off japan parts or any other site.....tintmasters will at least insure that a said part is indeed in stock.

Just saw your pictures Rotr8 and I have to say those are some of the best looking welds I've seen on this forum. Tell your welder I give him props.

Kirkey Intermediate Road Racing Aluminum seats with snap-on foam/cloth seating surface

Modified OE seat sliders with custom seat mounting tabs welded on

between 25 - 26 lbs total fully assembled with OE belt buckle and mounting hardware

not the most comfortable seat for street use, feels like you're sitting directly on the floorboard which is great for racing feel/control

have to tweak the outboard shoulder supports inward to clear the suicide door trim, actually provides better support this way

takes some fabrication experience and tools to make the fitment work in an RX-8, if I had to do it again I'd take the OE feet mounting tabs off the OE seat sliders and use then on Recaro sliders with custom bolt-on seat mounting tabs like I did with a set of Recaro Pole Position seats in a previous RX-8 build

The sparco evo series fits from the evo to the evo2 plus, i have no experience with the evo3.
Custom fixed mounts or adapted sliders are the best option to mount them low enough.

question for guys with FIA seats, are you also using FIA rails? Im looking at a set of bride FX rails, only set that they have thats FIA approved, but cant seem to find them in the states. Would it be cheaper just to custom fab?

I'm using a fixed mounting position since i'm the car's only driver but i would only use fia approved bits for an install. Flying with the whole seat the unlucky event of a crash wouldn't be fun
