If you were at 70mph. . .

What gear would you drop to for the most power/quickest acceleration? I think I need to see a power curve map..

3rd.

We have a basically linear map. So, you want to be as high as possible.

In 3rd you'd be at 7000 rpm, 2nd maxes out at roughly 65.

I second that third, so you're getting more than one opinion.

In third gear, how fast you're going is pretty much what RPM you would be at if you were in third...yes, that was redundant...but it was an attempt.

Has anyone said third yet?

For a little extra oomph - I stick my legs thru those holes you have under the floormats and do a Fred Flinstone. Instant +50bhp

my speedo indicates 68-69mph in 2nd gear holding on the fuel limiter that would be with the tall OE tire size

with the race tire size that most people run (24.8" OD) it would be approx 65-66mph

Cool Put forth.....

Let me be the first to put forth fourth.

Lots of power in fourth at 70 - and I don't want to be changing again within two seconds, (maybe my terminal velocity is faster than the average overtaker here - when I pass, they stay passed!).

My rule is if the speedo says less than 65, use third, if more, fourth.

Our MaxQdata system, and a radar gun at the last race, tells us 2nd gear with our short race tires is good for 63 mph on the rev limiter. For a 70 mph punch go with 3rd.

I figured I'd use red line for the limit not the fuel cut off.

quite possible, the actual radius should be smaller than the theoretical due to sidewall squat, etc.
