hoosier r6 245/35/18 on a 9.5 wide rim?

Looking for info on anyone that has ran the wide 9.5 wheel on a 245 size hoosier (or comparable tire)? Remember a 245 hoosier is as wide as a 255 in some other tires.
I hear pros and cons.
Should I drop down to a 9 inch wheel (or even an 8.5?)?
Will this wide of a wheel alter the diameter of the tire any?
Probably have less sidewall give?
Anyone with any experieince?
I am limited to this size due to the rules/points of my TT class.

Sorry, can't answer your question. But I've been thinking of running a 245 Toyo R888 (which also runs wide) on a 9.5" wheel. I'd guess the sidewalls walls will be little more stiff.

It should offer great response and turn in. The only thing to watch out for is rim protection... If you have an off there will likely be no sidewall protection for the wheel lip - the backside of and FIA curb, or even the track surface edge could contact the wheel. If you already have the 9.5" use them, if you are going to buy wheels for these tires consider the 9".
