Look at your 60' time on the slip. It is an indication as to how well your launch was. I bet you were in the 2.5+ sec range- indicating either too much wheelspin or an engine bog off the line.
The quality of the launch dictates the rest of the run. You must first nail a good launch technique, then focus on clean shifts.

What was your trap speed mph? That indicates the car's potential- not your potential.

Also, ignore the Reaction Time, as it has nothing to do with your Elapsed Time. When people say that you got the hole shot it means getting a good R/T and 60' combined to leave the line well. The rest of the run is based on clean/swift shifting and the car's horesepower.

7,000 RPM launch.

Practice launching. you need to know how to read the lights. They have a device that you can buy to practice your launces. It measure how quick you hit the pedal after reading the red yellow green lights.

Shift high in the RPM range. Max power is at 8 grand or less.

I would imagine right around 7k is where you want to bomb the clutch for a good take off.
Practice, practice, practice. (although this will hurt wallet and clutch)

you really have to abuse the clutch to do well.

^thats your problem its an automatic

also try holding the brake with your left foot and hold the accelerator with your right foot up till the point before it starts pushing through the brakes. It will build up tq off the line and will be able to launch at a higher rpm

You'll need a higher stall torque converter to brake stall higher than 2800. Problem is I've never heard of one for the RX-8. Without a stall you won't be able to get in the power band quick enough.

I have a 4000 stall in my Trans Am and it flashes to almost 5k as soon as you stomp the gas and never gets any lower than that during the run. It keeps the engine in it's powerband.

The tree is for racing your opponent. If you're concerned about racing for a good timeslip, you can ignore the tree altogether and leave at your own will as Reaction Time has nothing to do with your Elapsed Time. The timer doesn't begin to clock time until the beam reads your wheels have left.

But, for the most part, go on 1st or 2nd amber, depending on your reaction time for a decent R/T time.

Nobody's posted a 12 second time slip here. There was one 13.1 second run a few years ago, and Car and Driver review of the ProTech RX8 also yielded a 13.1.

MM ran a quarter mile and said he was in the 12's, but I don't think he posted a slip.

I believe the crazy Puerto Ricans gurus and their 20b RX8's have been in the 10's from a video they posted, if I recall correctly. Otherwise, Renesis based turbo RX8's have very rarely been in the 12's, as far as I know. I haven't seen any NA RX8's in the 13's.
