Has anyone seen or heard of this?

Yesterday during my shift change at work, my friend comes in and tells me that he saw a video of a "stock" RX-8 running a 13.8s 1/4m. I asked him to find the video again so I can post a link here but he still has not come up with it yet. If he comes up with it I will post it. But other than that, has anyone heard anything about this?

I told him the lowest I'd ever heard was low 14s and 1st gear was destroyed in that run, but he said he was pretty sure it was 13.8. I hope he finds it, because if he does that means a lot of us still have quite a bit to learn about this car (which is not a bad thing IMHO)! I think he could have heard it wrong (I doubt he would read it wrong) but he has no reason to lie considering he knows I have nothing to prove and he doesn't own an 8.

Judge Ito was the one I was referring to. I checked that post and he did say he chewed up his first gear and was able to drive home on his second gear.

Maurice's did an estimated high 13 run... perhaps somebody with a piggyback is doing the same.

Click Here for proof that high 13s might be possible.

Scroll down a bit to see actual times, granted they are Gtech.. but "close to stock third gen" can't be THAT far off.

Once the reflash mess gets sorted out and stage 1 gets optimized (now that they have access to all the timing details), I'm sure we'll be seeing time slips. I'm hopeful.

The funny thing is I didn't really ask "opinions" as to whether this is true or not. I asked if anyone has seen or heard of this or anything like this. I'm not into blowing smoke so this is not meant to stroke any egos. Being that the person who mentioned this is a friend and not just some kid I overheard in a mall or somewhere I thought I would inquire. I figured that my friend and the individual he got this info from can't be the only ones to have seen this if it did happen at a track. If it did happen I don't believe the car is stock with the exception of appearance. I have the feeling that it is like Ranger said, it is possibly a car with a piggyback. Another thing I have heard of is a rare few cars in some production lines being a little stronger that others (I don't know if they can be that much stronger but I've heard of it). With that being said, I realize this is a forum and people are going to have opinions but if there are no legitimate contributions and/or nobody can validate this claim (myself included) I'd rather this thread just die. Thank you for the only legitimate contribution to this topic Ranger!
