Harness options

With my new RX8 I plan to get back into autox. My old car I could lock the shoulder harness in place, not really an option on the 8. So, what people used as a harness in the 8? I'm not looking to replace the stock belts, just a basic harness to hold me in place better. I have see the ones that latch into the back seat belts, any one try them? Post photo's if you have them. Also, still have the stock leather seats.

Power seat back, lock shoulder belt, power seat forward - snug as a bug.

I got a lot of things, not related to what I am looking for. Like wire harnesses and motor swap threads.

I love how half the people here help, the other half don't. 4chan /b/ is more helpful some times. Thanks for nothing I guess.

If any one with something a bit more constructive has something to share, by all means.

I'm not wining. I did some digging, did not find what I was looking for, so I asked. Much like any other forum. Most forums are about talking and helping people with a common interest. For some reason, not here. Not sure why. Wealth of info, when it can be found. But some people, like yourself, are useless.

Prophet, yes, he may be a PIA, but he does have a wealth of knowledge with the 8.

well it's not like you said, "I'm having trouble weeding out the chaff, can you help me with it or offer me some tips?"

it's always easier to point the finger and blame someone else ...

To get back on track before this ends up like a majority of the threads I read, you really can't do a harness till you have a cage with the harness bar. The baby seat mounts is a dangerous place. belts are not at a proper angle and due to the distance to attatch to them you have given yourself more stretch room with the belt then you or your head/body would like thus the safety harness no longer safe.

get yourself a lap belt and do what stealth said with the seat until you have a cage. Look into autopower, they have a 4 point cage specifically for the back you can purchase granted your back seats will now be useless. IMO the best alternative to doing things right(and safe) while not fully caging out your car.

I'm not really looking at them for safety use. Just to hold me in place better in the turns. What about the ones that use lap belts in the back seat for the shoulders? Or bolting to the factory lap bolt positions in the back? Cage is not an option since this is my daily driver. Just plan to run BS for now, maybe bump to STX.

Not to sound like a dick, but I did not know I had to really spell it out. I figured that saying that I did not find what I was looking for pretty much covered it. I was a bit testy last night, have a friend in the hospital. So, bit on the quick to irritate side. For that, I'm sorry.

Here CG Lock you can still keep your seats and wont need a harness bar and harness. perfect for street/auto cross/drifting whatever.

Forgot about the CG lock. Tried on once, good for keeping the butt in place, not so much upper body. Will keep it in mind, but really want something for the upper body too. Thanks for posting.

If keeping your upper body in place is your concern then try a torso strap.

Torso strap? That's one I have not seen in my racing. Guess it's like a belt?

You could I guess, but for the lap belt I usually don't have a problem with locking the the stock belt with the old move seat back, pull stock belt tight and move seat forward.

Correct, usually nylon belt with either velcro or plastic buckle.

I have 5 pt. Takata harnesses but I haven't tried them yet because my seats aren't in yet.

That might be the ticket for now. I can make that in a half hour with some hot glue, strap, and some velcro. Less if I find a strap I don't need to cut. Thanks!

I have a Scroth 4-point belt (I believe it's the Rallye 4, below). It bolts into the seat belt mounting points (lap belt to the driver's lower mounts, should belts to the rear lower mounts) and includes longer bolts where necessary to allow the OE belts to remain. It does not use the LATCH points -- in fact, I don't know of any harnesses that do. The shoulder straps fit through the hole in the headrest. It unbuckles in the middle so that you can use the rear seat. I don't use it for track days, but only for autoX. It works fine.

Did I accidentally log on to Corner-Carvers instead of rx8club? Cut 'em a little bit of slack.
