front camber adjusters?

in prepping my '04 for CS, i can't seem to get any decent front camber. originally, i was able to get a max of -0.7* camber at +6.5* caster. backing caster off to +4.5* only gained me 0.1* more negative camber (to a max of -0.8*).

most people seem to be able to get ~-1.5* or so of camber. i've noticed that many of these folks seem to have later-model cars ('06, etc).

i also noticed that the MM parts catalog shows three part numbers for the front camber adjuster:

F151-28-664, superceded by:
F151-28-66Z

there is also another listing, F151-34-66Z.

i'm wondering if the later parts provide more adjustment range. the catalog doesn't specify a VIN range for the parts or explain the difference (if any) between either the 28-664 part and the 28-66Z part, or either of those and the 34-66Z part.

Does anyone know?

Not likely...but yours might be seized...it is a common problem...and a biotch to fix if really bad.....

Use some good penetrating oil and a heavy hand with an impact...and if that doesn't work you have to do it the hard way

What is your trim height, what shocks? Did you check all the front bushings for binding? And I don't just mean the ones you are trying to adjust.

koni sports. haven't checked the height (will do this weekend, though), but i made sure to leave the upper control arm bushings loose until i lowered the car back onto the ground.

How much are they turning? When they seize they will still turn with the bushing...about a half turn before they stop....

You should be able to get more than that when you drop it...

If they aren't seized...take them out and put some grease of never-seize on them...it will save you a lot of grief down the road

those parts won't change anything because they're not the limiting factor. The bolt and slot dimensional tolerances are the limiting factor

you can get about -2 deg out of the stock legal front if you try hard enough, for some reason they can all get several tenths more on the RF than the LF

mark, what does "try hard enough" mean? -2 is about what i expected, and i'm disappointed at where i ended up, especially given that the car pushes like a dump truck on some of our lots (perfectly fine on others though).

anything i should be pulling/pushing on/loosening/tightening while the car is on the rack? my alignment guys are pretty experienced autoXers/road racers but don't know RX8s that well. i'm used to a lowered miata that can't get enough positive camber.
