First time to the 1/4 with my 8 :S

So a few weeks ago i went to the local Track with my 8.. never dragged before in my life.. i have a 2005 Fully loaded spd Rx8.. first time i launched at 4k rpms.. bogged it.. had to start from about 2k rpms but still ran a 15.8
next i Went up to 6k rpms, dropped it best i could pull was 15.6... lowered my tire pressure to a 30 for the Rear... and also i realized when i was dropping my foot wasnt complelty Off the clutch.. so i took it out again, 6k rpm Drop, got it at 15.42..
now.. it was a hot day.. 88 degrees, 66% Humidity.. it was jsut gross out.. SRT-4s with drag Slickes were only runnin 14.5s.. that and the track was messed.. i was getting 1.5 60fts.. i know.. its IMPOSSIBLE to get that with a bone stock rx8... and i would be running about 10s.. so the track was messed and REAL hot.. which i think has a contributing factor.. . i didnt keep the time slips.. as they were kinda despressing.. im goin back at the end of summer when itll be about.. 60 degrees and maybe do a 7k rpm Drop.. anyways, anyone have any pointers for me? at what Rpms should i be shifting at? anything would help.. i wnat to break the 15 mark.. im pretty sure i can do it.. my Trap speeds where like 89-90mph.. but couldnt pull off better then a 15.42..

it was your first time... once you get use to feathering, try a launch at 7k

yes,

it means letting it out to avoid massive wheelspin an avoiding the bog or axle tramp...

i have very good results with 4.5 to 5k...

7.5 k is just smoking the clutch.. this is just for 0 to 60 times and a good .25 mile...

not the max no holes bared run.... safe and fast....

i have 48 k miles on my clutch... with many of these runs...

but my clutch is not long for this world... i would give it ~ 10 k miles with a bit more of this style of launch..

When you folks feather out your clutch...do you smell burnt clutch? When I feather mine out on the streets, sometimes I will smell burnt clutch... I want my stock clutch to make it to at least 60k miles.

1.5 60ft ???? That has to be a malfunction on the timers.

Either way thanks for the post, Ive always wondered what this car was good for in the 1/4 mile
