Travis,
Shawn and I have our two events so we're out.
Are you thinking of attending? Last I checked Ruggles, Harvey and Rogers were the only ones registered -- if you signed up that'd make the class 1 person short.
Still hope you change your mind about the Finale and Nats...
This thread is related to a SCCA Pro Solo event - 5 drivers are needed to make a class eligible for the Super Challenge (as well as for contingency purposes for most sponsors).

Hey guys, I'll be in Finger Lakes, but I'm running Darrin's MX-5. It was just too far to drive my Z from South Florida
If it's that close, I could always co-drive with a b-stocker, but I suppose we can cross that bridge when we get there.
See ya in Finger Lakes!

They say the RX-8 is like a big miata, so if you can get the hang of Darrin's car, you'll do great in an RX-8. Remember, get on the gas about 1 second earlier than you would in your Z.

Finger Lakes Region puts on a great event (free watermelon and ice cream ! ). The course was a nice combination of flowing elements that rewarded you for looking ahead. The finish was exciting too with a 4 cone, 26 pace, slalom just before the lights. I found the surface grip to be similar to Milwaukee without the elevation changes,. The course also included a very small section ( 1 corner) of high grip concrete that added some variety.
Unfortunately, the LED start tree died right away on Sat AM. The SCCA crew did a great job of handling the issue and the decision was made to continue with just a stage light and no tree to minimize the delay.
It was great to meet B-stocker Jason Ruggles for the first time, even though he bailed and went to C-stock on us :-/ We ended up running in Bump 1 with F-stock and ASP .... since your two best runs were being scored, Sunday AM had plenty of drama. John nailed his last run to pull a small lead over Saturday's leader Lynne in a Shelby. As the second driver, I was able to take advantage of warmer tires and clean-up my dirty runs from Saturday PM to take the win. Great fun, on a challenging course.
We made it home about 1 am....

Great job, Harvey and Rogers
Based on the PAX, looks like it wasn't a very much of a horsepower course? On the other hand, it may very well just be that the really fast guys weren't in the high horsepower classes

Other than the start, it was a flowing, speed maintenance course with a single, 180 turn at the bottom of second for the RX8. Take a look at Conners SS Elise time for reference, their car looked very, very happy. Mike and Lynne in the Shelby both mentioned they were struggling to put power down.
Here's a video of the course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALxqqedO7V8

Ha ha. Same here.
That definitely looks like a relatively quick, speed maintenance course. Any idea what peak speeds you & Rogers were seeing in your car?

Sorry Chike - I don't have data from HPT, maybe some others can chime in.
Even though Toledo is concrete, it's actually drives fairly similar to HPT. Decent grip online, but you pay dearly for trying to create your own lines. Running Thurs/Fri last year helped B-stock a bunch, this year could be interesting depending on how early we run on Tuesday.

Hey guys,
Talking to Howard Duncan and he mentioned that HPT finally bought a street sweeper/vac. He said he has run on that surface recently and it is a lot better than it was. There doesn't seem to be as much "China Beach" (his words) so it may prove to be a slightly better site this year.
As for Finger Lakes, well they really put on a good event. Despite it being a single course pro, despite the LED tree not working turning it into a 9 run tour, despite me not being in b-stock, it was a great time. Chris and John are great guys and even better drivers, and they put up with all my RX8 questions.
I drove Darrin's MS-R for the second time ever and found it to be much easier to drive than my Z. The Z fights you on every move, it understeers back at you, it spins tires on exit, etc... The MS-R is what I imagine your RX-8's are like. The car does what it is told, so you can actually focus on driving the course and not driving around issues.
What's worse is that Darrin offered me a co-drive in his car for nationals, and after this weekend, it is really tempting.
I'll post video as soon as I can get it off my camera (and Chike, don't think I forgot about your DC MaxQ runs....my PDA wet the bed, but I think I am now able to pull the runs off of there)

Cool - Shawn and I will be looking forward to seeing those runs from DC.
